Purple rain (redneck version)

A friend of mine, said a while ago that he heard a bootleg prince had done in the 80s of a redneck version of purple rain. In which prince is playing a banjo and has changed some of the lyrics. Can this be true I mean theres a big bootleg scene for prince so I havent heard anywhere near all of them. Oh man I want to hear it I bet its funny as ****. I wonder what hes changed the lyrics to.

How about: I never meant to sleep with my cousin, I never meant to cause you any shame, but when I put my bread stick in her oven I forgot we had the same surname, same surname same surname yes I, same surname, same surname, same surname, same surname I just completly forgot we had the same surname.

There could be some truth in this rumour.

In the late eighties, the dutch radiostation 3 FM had a contest in which they asked professional and amateur musicians to cover their favourite Prince songs.

I remember there was one band who delivered 3 different country-versions of Purple Rain for that contest.
It might be that one of those versions landed on a bootleg.

But, important sidenote... the guy singing those songs, didn't sound like Prince at all.

I heard a spanish version of Purple Rain on the radio once. My mom dedicated it to me. It was very sweet. The song was weird though.

I would LOVE to hear that, do you know who sang it? Spanish is such a sexy language, I wish P had some songs in spanish...

NO, that's the correct way of saying it. But this song instead of saying Purple Rain, Purple Rain it was Purpura, Purpura. So basically Purple, Purple.

The one my mate heard was definitely prince singing not a cover band. Saying that thought if it isnt true I might release that version with those lyrics I just made up on youtube and put my best southern accent on. lol lol

They filmed the video in a creek in Denver loaded with red and blue food coloring...and it was sponsored by Coors. cool
