SIGN o' THE TIMES was his real last materpiece

i was smiling from ear to ear when i first listened to that record. i was 16 yrs old and just felt the album covered many vast styles and musical genres. i sometimes get depressed thinking that he'll never come close to those heights again. why cant prince create one more masterpiece? do u fams feel he has it in him?

I completely agree with you that SOTT was Prince's last masterpiece. No album he has released post-SOTT is anywhere near as good as his 80-87 output. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial.

Does he have another masterpiece in him? As talented as he is its gotta be a possibility but I doubt it will happen. It would require a whole new way of approaching music - bandmates, production, etc. I think he's set in his ways at this point.

i give u much alot of respect because you are from the new boogy groove but the gold experience is fine not a masterpiece. it doesn't compare 2 dirty mind or 1999 or purple rain, etc. the gold experience blows away anything he has done since that point. the rainbow children was great musically but very poor lyrically. big ups 2 steven marshall!

In no way is Lovesexy, The Gold Expierience, or the Rainbow Children, or Exodus on the same level as 1999, Purple Rain, Sign O' The Times, or Dirty Mind.

I wish they were.

I don't think that album is a masterpiece atall. Sure it has some great songs such as SOTT and IT but it's pretty inconsistent to me. He's put out much better albums than that one.

FUNKJAM u aren't a real prince fan if u don't consider sign o' the times 2 be a masterpiece. there are so many solid songs on that album. the only weak song is u got the look. it covered so many genres and styles so brillantly. the trc isn't a masterpiece. all of his masterpieces reside in the 1980 to 87 period and that's it! bobby has spoken!

few artists manage to make 1 true masterpiece, fewer still have achieved the amount of masterpieces prince has.

its easier to point out prince albums which arent masterpieces.

I think it's pretty foolish to say something like that, not everyone has the same taste in music. The thing about Prince is that alot of his fans have very different tastes, and it's because he's such a varied artist! I actually think he's made more masterpieces in the 90's and 00's than in the 80's.

PRINCE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING CLASSIC, SINCE SIGN o' THE TIMES. prince's b-sides from his 1980 to 87 period blow away his 90's catalouge. the symbol album, gold experience, emancipation, and trc are good albums , since 1992. i don't think you can't find 2 much filler in his 80 to 87 period. i'm just being an objective fan of his. prince has put out alot of crap since 1989.
