COME Is a methodical , more subdued version of The Gold Experience.
To me, it sounds almost like a late night b-side accompaniment to Gold. I've heard it described as an electronic version of Dirty Mind, but I've found few similarities to DM.

Possibly the first Prince album that lacked heart.

That being said, I liked:

Papa (it just has a great, dark vibe to it)
Loose (Makes you wonder if Prince released a true electronic album, how off the hook it could be).
Space (Its an utterly forgettable jingle in the style of 'Cream', but easy to sing along to)
And finally, Lettitgo (catchy, if not impressive. His absurd proclamation that there were 'never any god seats in any of this man's shows' always cracks me up. Folks who've been to his pre-Diamonds & Pearls shows know how false that is ).



Essentially, if you like the vibe and feel of Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, you'll probably like Come--there's a melancholy undercurrent to both, although the albums don't sound anything alike.

I know a lot of you guys don’t like "Solo", it’s beyond me why not, but if you like loose and papa, then nuff said i suppose. One of his best and most original tracks in my opinion.

Pheromone! I haven’t heard anybody mention this track! Another one of his best tracks, the soundscape is as original as anything I ever heard, I still don’t know what that crazy sound is on the main groove. And what a groove that is!

Letitgo - cool oldschool little track, love the synths and the little synth solo thing near the end

This is just my opinion here but.....

If you want a nice lengthy sex track and you have a very "generous" husband and or boifriend

then the title track is enough for you to buy the album!!!!!

Trust me

on the other hand is a very computerized sound to this album
space is a nice track when you have a big crush on someone
pheremone is a strip track when your feeling erotic and "naughty"
loose sounds like sumthin you would play at a wild party or a techno club
the name is pretty self explanatory for that track
papa is kinda like a dark vibe like when you feel depressed
race has not been mentioned yet but mayb one of the only tracks i skip through really doesnt catch my attention to much sounds like it shouldve been on the "symbol" album
solo seems like a modern opera acappella i like it
letitgo is a funky track
and orgasm.....OMG that one you can give your own opinion to
i suggest fingering if your into that but.....

I know you asked for an opinion on each song but here's three reasons why you should buy it.

1. Despite being a contractual obligation album it feels like a cohesive set of songs and not like a bunch of tracks thrown together.

2. The production. It doesn't sound dated unlike so many of his albums. It really holds its own today.

3. With the exception of Orgasm there's nothing really terrible on it and there are several really fine tracks on it. Space is gorgeous ballad. Dark is a great slow bluesy piece and Papa is real dark and a surprise and quite unlike anything he's done before. The rest is above average too. Loose is insane.

A lot of people on here really rate Come and it's definitely in my top 10 Prince albums. It's low key but it that's part of why it works.

"Come" is a nice introduction for the cd. "Space," would probably be my favorite song from the collection, however, the other songs just barely fall behind.
"Pheromone" is a cool emotional groove, tied with "Loose," are nice cuts back to back.
I like "Papa". And of course the end of the song is the most musically colorful.
"Race" is alright, although it doesn't sport the speed that "Get Loose!" does from, "Crystal Ball."
"Dark," and "Solo," are absolutely Beautiful. And "Orgasm" is just a silly point, recorded to be thrown onto the end of the albums subject.

I am sure you will love the record. I do.

Come is a great album, in my opinion. Some songs are better than others, but overall it's pretty strong.


And if the album's coming in the mail and you're getting it already, why do you need our opinions before you form your own?

Yes you should definitely be excited about getting it. Space, Come and Let it go are my favorites. The opening song is just classic and timeless prince. Come has Santa Claus jingle back beat in my opinion. I always imagine Prince in a Santa mood spreading the word of come to the world. The horz are just to die 4, and quite frankly the song is just funny, you can hear his humour throughout the song. Space is a very poetic and descriptive song with a hypnotic back beat that takes you on a cool journey it you let it happen. Let it go sounds very personal but with a heavy dose of funkiness to boot. So in essence get it, get excited and enjoy!

I love this album. One of my favourites. It´s very passionate. Not easy to listen to, at least, I think, it took me several listenings before I got into some of these songs, but they were really worth gettin into.
The first time i heard Loose, I was like . What the hell is that?

Its a great album worth the purchase price, but even better to get second hand. Ok its not Sign o the times or 3121, buts its a Bplus album, and apart from Gold Experience and Emancipation, his only decent 1993-2003 effort.
Come is a great 11 minute funky opus to sex
Space, etheral ballad, excellent falsetto
Pheromone, same as above great falsetto
Loose, tight taut shrieky dance, not for those with a migraine
Papa, quick chant above child abuse
Race, excellent social conscience songs, excellent lyrics and melody
Dark One of his finest ever ballads up there with Adore and Do Me Baby, worth the purchase price alone and one of his absolute best
Solo, the only clanger on the album, ridiculous shrieky falsetto acapella
Letitgo, catchy top40ish single, great hooks melody, pure Prince pop
Orgasm, distorted feedback, over u know what, not great, but amusing.

Be prepared for sex on the beach segues and lots of profanity, especially loose, this is post Tony M and pre Larry so theres no Jehovah restraint here
