falloff Cold.

Recent "b-sides":

- Musicology - Virtual B-Side: Magnificent
- Cinnamon Girl - b/w United States Of Division & Dear Mr. Man (Live)
- SST - b/w Brand New Orleans
- Fury - b/w Te Amo Corazón / Fury (Live)
- Call My Name - Virtual B-Side: Silver Tongue

OK, it's not that many, but think about the prince years, there were hardly any at all - Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive, can't think of any other non-album tracks or b-sides that weren't remixes, so it's an improvement, eh.

eye heart all the b sides that eye own ! It seems as tho' the B sides are always better then the so called radio friendly A sides ! eye could give examples but any Prince fan knows exactly what eye am talkin' about !
Heres a lil intesting article that makes sense as 2 why P use 2 pump out the B sides like crazy:
"The prolific nature of Prince generates dozens of songs per year. During the 80s and 90s, the standard practice for musical performers was to produce an album every 2-3 years, supported by tours in between. Prince produced much more material than the average artist and since the record companies limited the number of albums he could release, Prince looked for alternate ways of releasing more music. One of these ways was through B-sides. A "B-side" is a song on the flip side of a vinyl album single (which is the A-side). Sometimes the B-side is another album track, but often in Prince's case, the B-side is a previously unreleased track. This section includes B-sides from 7", 12" and/or single releases only. Some edited versions and other B-sides appear on The Hits/The B-Sides." From; www.dtt-lyrics.com/albums...ctory.html
peace PEACE.....It does not mean 2 be in a place where there is no noise, trouble,or hardwork. It means 2 be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart ! heart

I think this is very true. Nowadays, with the internet, there really is no need for B-sides as an outlet for new songs. Look at PFUNK as an example...

I bet Prince even considers the fact that everything he puts out on TV appearances will be bootlegged and distributed electronically, regardless of what the websherrif does ;=)

Same goes for high-profile gigs such as Coachella, it takes about 2 minutes of search to find links to a boot of that in the blogsphere. Prince must know that this happens...

Interesting idea for a post...I agree with you, the 80s b-sides are truly the best! I think the culture of music has shifted somewhat...musicians used to be a lot more free with their music, which accounted for singles having better b-sides. The culture is different today, meaning that artists hoard their good tracks for profit neutral

P.S. Every time I see your user name I think it's PBR and I want a beer.
