I Would Love To See Prince.....

Bring out a Gospel CD, Im talking a Kirk Franklin type CD here....Hell, I'd love to see him collaberate with Kirk, the Winans and Mavis to name just a few and make an awsome CD the only way Prince can
Heck even Larry can join in if he behaves himself
I know Im gonna get some backlash ova this one but I dont care

'Forever in My Life' is the closest to Gospel-like he did that I can think of right now. I saw the SOTT video, amazing performance... both powerful and vulnerable at the same time. At one point he drops to his knees, holding onto the microphone stand, as if he was himself overwhelmed by his own singing/performance, and I swear I saw him brush a tear. I'm transfixed each time I watch it.
Anyway, I digress, yes I'm all for a Gospel CD too, would be great.

What like the gospel thing he did on Raveinto the year 2000?


uh uh no no

lets try and keep it neutral no religious stuff. He sounded a little preachy at that stage of the vid.

altho we all know hes outspoken which is fine (i am too) if you believe in something or have an opinion, i love the bit written on the inside of the rave cd that goes on about if his coat were real how many lambs would have been slaughtered etc

But a WHOLE cd of it nope!!! that would be disastrous. I dont understand why singers pigeonhole themselves as gospel, i was brought up on that stuff and at one point that was all that was allowed in the house, its so narrow minded.

Anyhow I dont think youd really like Prince as a gospel singer, hes too naughty really and would keep slipping in the odd inappropriate lyric he cant help himself.

question? what about rainbow children? what do you think of that? Prince has always made spiritual songs, but it seems to me that as soon as he became a jw and did this album, people didn't want to hear it. It's a funky album, has some awesome songs (Mellow is my jam!!) and isn't all that preachy to me. what are your opinions?

I dont know, I guess its a symbol for either hiding, or in my case someone telling u to get back in ure box and be quiet

i would love 2 c a collabartion with prince and kirk franklin since prince covered his version of stomp on a few jam of the year dates. prince's music has always contained a element of gospel by him using gospel choirs whether in the studio or live so seeing a full fledged gospel album wouldn't b 2 out of the ordinary.

tho in prince's vision, albums like lovesexy, graffiti bridge and the rainbow children would b "considered" gospel albums

don't even put it in his head. He's already thought about it and prolly recorded it...he even tried to make the time do one but they refused...

I think The Rainbow Children is very spiritual, like many other songs of his, but another, more traditional sounding gospel song or two could turn out great, too.

Anyway, answering the topic - I would love to see Prince perform "When Will We B Paid?'' live, along with "17 Days," "Another Lonely Christmas," "She's Always In My Hair'' - heck, I'd love to see a whole concert of B-sides. I know that's not likely, but maybe an entire aftershow of B-sides like those?
