Give Prince Some Stick

Ok, I haven't been an org member very long but I am already aware that there are some very knowledgeable musos out there, especially when it comes to Prince.

So my question is, has Prince ever played a Chapman Stick?
And if he hasn't, has any one any theories as to why?

My hb's thinking of buying one, and after looking at them closely I've come to realise that it's a fabulous bit of kit, and in the hands of as talented a guitar and keyboard player as Prince is, I would think it could be one of the funkiest instruments we've ever seen/heard him play.

Unfortunately most of the stuff you hear musicians play on it is the kind of new age jazz that starts to go in through one ear and out the other after a minute or so. bored
These guys are great musicians and damn, they know how to play the thing, but I have a feeling that if Prince got his talented hands on one..... well music

I hope the link below works, cos this guy knows what he's doin' thumbs up!

It would certainly be interesting to see what Prince would come up with.

The fist time I remember seeing it being used was by Nick Beggs back in
the 80's. I loved his Ellis, Beggs & Howard track "Big Bubbles, No Troubles"
which is little more than a funky chapman stick riff over a backbeat.

here's the video...

It would be very interesting...I have no doubt in my mind Prince could play it beautifully.

I think the reason Prince has never played a Chapman stick is because it is seen to be a bit gimmicky and dare I say it even a bit geeky!!

It's really difficult to look cool and sexy playing one.

Maybe his vanity has stopped him from using an otherwise great instrument.

What do you guys reckon? hmmm
