Yes, because it was a different take. I'd rather hear a different arrangement/instrumentation than a carbon copy. Sometimes I think you miss the point of having fun doing a song you like and reinterpeting it in a way that hasn't been done. Have you heard his cover of Let's pretend we're married? Let's put it this way: Mahaffey imo is the best at doing Prince reworks,period. There is no one on this board who would be able to TOUCH him. If he was commissioned to make a Prince covers project he would probably get the org talking of all the songs that he covered that no one covered and probably get the thumbs up from everyone in the NPG. Yes, he deserves his due as a artist/producer/engineer/musician/songwriter. Someone put up some more of his Prince covers

17 Days is possibly my favorite Prince song (it's definitely in the top 3), and I love this version. It's a completely different vibe from the original, and I like that. Hearing the rain falling in the Hawaiian rainforest in the background is nice. I love sElf's music, and his cover of "Gotta Stop (Messin' About)" is one of THE best Prince covers ever.

thought that was quite nice. always nice to hear a bit of variation in a cover, and that managed it just fine (though didnt like the chant bit after the chorus) nicely sung too, could feel a bit of emotion in it. Wouldn't you love to love me? | |

I actually liked it. Mainly because it wasn't another guy covering Prince going "Look at me!!!!! I can be just like Prince!!!!".....I hate covers like that.
