Slight edits.

I just did another slight edit on one of Prince's songs. On disc 3 of Crystal Ball, Get Loose segues out of The Ride, so the song starts with residual noise of the previous song.

Which is fun when you listen to the album, but if you want to place Get Loose on a playlist with funky Prince songs, it kinda ruins the intro.

So I copied part of the beat from a second on into the song and cut it in the place of that off-beat intro. And now it has a proper intro!

I love edits. I got tons by now.

Nice. That's a good idea. I spent a bunch of time editing Lovesexy into individual tracks, correcting the song split between Kiss and Anotherloverholenyohead, and editing out some of the intros on Come so I can get right to the song when I want to. But after all that, I haven't gone back in to do more. I've got several in my to-do list.

I did all of those too! There are so many cock-ups on how WB song split all them Prince songs in and out of eachother wrongly. I could not stand the semi-second of Kiss on Anotherloverholenyohead either.

Same with my CD version of Housequake, that starts with a semi-second of Play In The Sunshine.
And it's nice to be able to cut off segues like those on the Come songs or the segue at the end of Damn U. Or the segue at the start of Apllonia 6's Oo She She Wa Wa.

Or mix New Power generation Part 1 and II into one song. Same with SST and BNO. Or speed up I Love U In Me, so the song becomes a kick ass Camille song. The original is a drag anyways.

Etc. etc.
Like I said, I got loads.

PS the best slight edit is the one I did on 777 9311. That song misses it's opening beat, as the first beat is the last beat of Wild and Loose.

Ever noticed that?

So I copy/pasted a beat from further on in the song. Now that song starts as it should.

Yep, I did that with New Power Generation too. I absolutely love that song and having part II with it just makes good sense.

A lot of those others are things I want to do too, when I get around to it. Never thought about doing that to I Love U in Me, but that's a great idea.

If I were talented at it, I'd like to combine The Latest Fashion and My Summertime Thang too, but I doubt I'd be able to do a seamless mix.

I think Summertime Thang would work better first.

Uhmmmm. I will do both.

The first one will be The Latest Fashion/My Summertime Thang/Pretty Little Women, cuz I like that outro.

It was easy; it had a lot of clean breaks; no mixing needed; just some clean cut and paste.

I made a 17 track best of the Time CD. Obviously that don't come easy due to the track lengths, so an edit fest was required.

Problem was, a straight forward fade out after 3.30 seemed boring and often missed off the best bits in the typical build ups at the end. So I went about cutting sections out in the middle.

I must say, the 4 min edits of tracks like Wild & Loose and Cool work a treat.

My favourite edit is my Squirrel mix of "Thieves in the temple". It takes all the power of the 12" 8.41 mix but packs it into 5.56. That way, its a vocal version all the way.

I'm always editing songs like that, I recently put together a special Prince mix and I don't know what I would have done without cool edit!!
