I saw the Grammy performance and thought it was ok. A little bit of the same ol'. Nothing new, basic arrangement from the old days..... I think Morris needs to take a step back and chill, Prince still wrote most of the stuff he sings so , he needs to calm the hell down. I think Morris is a little fake and not much talent. I've seen him on show called Basden Afterdark, that airs on TVONE pretending to be a band director. I guess you take work where you can get it. The fact that of all of the people he thought was cool, he thought of P' Diddy, pretty weak. That says a lot.

Rihanna should have kept her ass at home and let the time do their thing. I liked the performance, but I would have loved it if she wasn't on stage. Some old/new combos DO work at the grammy's but this one should have been given the heve-ho early on.

Yes! It should have been the other way round... Rihanna opening with The Time taking over... like it was it kinda was anticlimatic! For a second there I thought Prince would enter the stage!

It generally would be a better idea to let the young ones start and the legends will finish the job!

I enjoyed the performance... And y'all should be thankful that The Time were even asked to join Rihanna... SHE is the top bill right now (sad as that is)... I'm sure everyone except Prince fans were like "what the hell"?? I love the band to death but are they really any more relevant than a group like The Jets or Poison or any other skilled 80s band with a hit 2 decades ago?

Actually,Rhiana should be honored to be a part of the time's set as they 've been around alot longer and have built up a certain fan based respect. And they're cooler than any artist out right now.Gues we'll never see that type of cool again for quite a while.

i was disappointed with the performance (not blaming the time, but the show itself), reason being i was geared up to see the Legendary Band play a selection of short joints..but NO..Oh well..atleast they got to get some mass appeal in the Grammmys!!!

No im patiently waiting for a Tour..and i pray they get their azzes to LONDON!!!

From MTV News:

As the Grammy Awards progressed on Sunday night, one man was making headlines of his own backstage: the Time's Morris Day.

The frontman/lothario, who duetted with Rihanna early in the show, said of the singer: "I think she's a sexy young lady. I have kids as old as her. ... But I enjoyed it. That did not stop me from noticing."

He had a less flattering, although sympathetic, comment about her onstage pouting: "When the groove hits you, you get ugly for a minute. It's like you broke wind."

Since the Time are noted for their cool ("Cool" is also the name of one of their best songs), he talked about how some of today's artists measure up.

"I don't see Kanye as being cool--very talented, but not cool."

Chris Brown? "He's very hyper, but talented. Give him about 10 years and we'll see. There are some cool people out there. I think Snoop is cool. Puffy's cool. It's embodiment — it's gotta be in you. I'm so cool that even when I'm sweating, it's a cold sweat."

After noting how impressed he was with his own group's performance, Day continued: "I don't know if you were able to watch [our set] because you were too busy eating sandwiches and potato chips, but we had a good time," he told reporters with a laugh. "I still do the dance moves every day, I just happened to do it on the Grammy stage tonight."

When asked if he spoke with longtime friend and foil Prince backstage, Day answered, "I asked him, 'How's the family?' ... He didn't say nothing." (Day and Prince are old friends and rivals. Day split from Prince's camp not long after the blockbuster success of 1984's "Purple Rain," but reunited for 1990's "Graffiti Bridge" and the Time have opened for Prince at several shows in recent years.)

Asked if he was going to kick it with Prince backstage, he replied: "Am I interested in kicking him backstage?"

Day also said the Time have a new album done and plan to tour. "That was fun. Where's the sandwich boxes?" he said before leaving the media room.

Morris is something else. That "How's the family?" line is straight from Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge.

clapping I see my man Morris hasn't lost his touch. His responses were dead on it. Eventhough I hated to see Moris and this legendary band play with this second rate vocalist, it was still good to see the fellas up on stage doing their damn thang. Hopefully, we can get a tour out of the original 7 one last time.

I didn't see the Grammys, but to the person who mentioned something called 'Brave Mary', I hope you're not talking about 'Proud Mary'.
'Cause either I'm out of touch and don't know what 'Brave Mary' is, or you don't know the title of Ike and Tina Turner's classic signature tune.

At the Grammys it would have been a lot better if The Time had sung a medley of their songs instead of one( Jungle Love ) A lot a people outside of America would have been saying " The Time, who are they?" A medley of Jungle Love, The Bird and Cool would have been a greater representation of the band. It felt like Rihanna was taking over and they were pushed aside. But it was great seeing Morris and the guys on primetime TV again after so long. Is their going to be a Time tour?

If I'm not mistaken, Morris and the Time perform in the Bay Area still. I saw them a year ago (or so) -- can't remember the venue, but the show was good. I remember Morris saying something about women in the crowd who weren't wearing any panties and how some of them should have been.... lol lol lol

Snoop is cool. Snoop is cool.

(whispering) Snoop will pistol whip you if he finds out you don't think he's cool. For crying out loud. He did a tribute to Prince's When Dove's Cry in his Sensual Seduction. (He was also channeling Rick James) Cool and Funky. What more do you want from the man?

eek It's obvious that you either don't like Prince or your jealious of him being a bigger star than Morris Day. But you need to realize that if it wasn't for Prince there wouldn't be a Morris Day.

I've never been a Morris fan,but I've always enjoyed his music. But If you've listened to his earlier stuff. It was all him & Prince anyway. Don't believe me. Play the song "Get It Up"
