This is Prince we're talking about, right?

I do understand about 90% of what he's talking about.

However...

There are still far too many to count, my friend. And if I started now, you'd have to bound & gag me to stop, haha.

I understand a lot.
But A LOT of lyrics still make me wonder. That's part of why Prince is the man! cool

I used to think that a lyric in Play in the Sunshine was....

"We're gonna love all our enemies, until the mirror falls off the wall!"...

justified to myself with the thought that you can be your own worst enemy, and the mirror represents both reflecting who you are and learning to love what you see!!!

When I discovered it was actually "until the guerillas fall off the wall!" I wasn't too sure of anything anymore! neutral

Really? I think that line is classic for Prince and the way that He knows, that sexuality is an animalistic thing, and it's only love that makes making love a spiritual union between two people...

The first and the last line make sense. In fact, the last line may be the most graphic thing he ever slipped by the radio censors.

But the middle line, yeah, it makes no sense to me. It makes me wonder if the original line was about somebody "pissing on the lawn" and he changed it to make it more agreeable.

I like your interpretation of "the mirror falls off the wall"

I think with the whole line "We're gonna love all our enemies til the guerillas fall off the wall" (my opinion) makes reference to war torn countries with military presence guerrillas ( meant to try and overthrough the government of that country), not gorillas (the animal) Because if the Guerrillas fall, there is peace in that country. smile

I thought the whole thing was about a couple gettin down outside like at a picnic and in the heat of passion someone knocked over a grape(always thought grape soda) can, then the eruption and the butterfly on the skin.

So open to different interpretations
