The Purple Rain one was a hairstyle, not a weave.

That was Prince's hair.Haven't you seen pictures from his younger days? Prince had no need for any hair enhancements.

I appluad Dance for doing this thread cuz I know he's mocking all of the other threads that deals with the "this vs.that" which I personally can't stand. But uh, regardless of how long P's hair was in the 70's, the texture of P's hair starting from 1982 is not P's texture. P's hair is much rougher and coarser than that. Actually on the Controversy tour, when P had cut his hair on the Dirty Mind album, P's hair was still short. Except for in the front where he started wearing it over his eye. On the Controversy album cover and with other promo shots of the album and even on his first leg of that tour, the hair over his ete was pressed straight. Like the rest of his hair. Problem was that when he strted to sweat on stage, his hair would roughen up or "go back". So he added a hair piece in the front that was a softer, curlier texture. It was easy to see from the seats I had at that show. 3rd row, baby! No, seriously, u could clearly see that it was a piece not only cuz of the difference in texture, but the way it flopped around like it was clothing fabric. In late 82 when he was promoting 1999, he just added more of it so it flowed better. He left some of the bottom of his own hair out. But all of the front, top and sides were added. On the Purple Rain project, same thing but even fuller. When P took it out, that was on the Rasberry Beret video. It's not about how long P's hair was in the video, Just look at the texture of his hair in that. P's hair is not naturally curly and P has never wore a jheri curl either. So yeah, those were pieces added in starting from Controversy. This is showbiz ya'll.

i'm in between the 91 typhoon was tight but i like the pr head of hair cause when he would bop his head that one lock of curls would bop up and down ..jerri curl juice flying all over the place
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Prince has had professional hair dressers for years and when Earl Jones(Jill Jones' uncle) started doing his hair in 1982 to the mid 90's upon his passing, Prince never wore a weave. Prince has always relaxed his hair and curled it out using curling irons or flat irons. All the people of color in the org knowss this. When you have your own private hair dresser on call everyday, at any time, your hair will grow like crazy because they will keep it healthy.

A weave is just sewn or braided into your own hair, innit.

Anyway, PR hair wins. The way that shit moved and bopped love Second only to that perm he was rocking in 79. giggle

I KNOW this to be true being that I have my own hairdresser and have had one for years. I've worn my hair long since I was a kid. Just by me simply keeping my ends trim, my hair grows like grass. BUT, I STILL stand by what I posted earlier. Just my opinion. I know cats who have had this done and it looked exactly like P's during this period. That's why I stressed texture and not how long. Folks on here think that it's a negative if extension is even mentioned in the same sentence as P. All I have to do is ask A. Cymone if P wore extensions or not. Hell, Andre probably wore a piece or two his damn self during Dane Electric. He would know if P did.

Well, EXTENSIONS are totally cool with me, and that sounds right - and I know you know these things. So PR weave is my favourite! biggrin
