TOM JONES COVERED PRINCE'S "KISS?" WHAT THE FUNK?!?!?!

So tonight for the first time I heard a song, and I started singing a long. About a few seconds of singing into it, I realized it was Prince's, "Kiss." But it was Tom Jones?!?!?!?

Apparently it was released in 1989, and it is by The Art Of Noise / Tom Jones.

Did this remake chart? Anyone else heard it???

Tom Jones version of Kiss got sampled during the early 90's. It was popular when it was out. The video should be somewhere on TubeYou. *Disclaimer* I ain't about to post the link. lol

Some of you should try living here in the UK, where many a person has asked me "when did Prince do a cover of that Tom Jones song?" mad

I swear, I was ready to kill someone at the O2 on 12th September if I was asked that.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Exactly thats what I normally encounter, frustrating. I'm a Cyndi Lauper fan and also get with her, did she cover Roy Orbison's I Drove All Night when no she sang it first.

It pains me to say that Tom Jones' version charted higher in the UK, Prince only got to number six in March 1986.

Which is the worst cover of Kiss? The Tom Jones version or the one by The Age of Chance?

I saw Tom Jones in Ephesus, Turkey, over 20 years ago. Don't underestimate his talent. He isn't my generation, but he was in his 50's and HOT! His band was young and the experience memorable. He's a respected singer, and he gave Prince added publicity. wink
From Wikipedia:
"In 1967 he performed for the first time in Las Vegas, at the Flamingo. In 1968, starting at New York's Copacabana night club, women would swoon and scream, and some would throw their knickers on stage. Soon after, he began to play Las Vegas and began recording less, choosing to concentrate on his lucrative club performances. At Caesar's Palace his shows were traditionally a knicker-hurling frenzy of raw sexual tension and good-time entertainment. There, they started throwing hotel room keys."
He was also knighted, by Queen Elizabeth.....

Hey! Prince will be 70 one of these days. And the youth will wonder what was so appealing about him..... eek
