I just took a hard listen on "I wanna be your lover" 2day and I was thinking what if Patrice Rushen SANG it when P gave her that song, ya know?? Doing her synthsizer solo and Prince back-up vox with Freddie W.'s bass. now would that be heavy or what??

Why did she truned off this track and how did she hook up with Prince??

Man, that would be intersting if she worked with Prince in his new whatever LP, join the celly or even join his band as a keyboardist after Mr.Hays.

I'm confused.Did Prince write this song FOR PATRICE TO RECORD or did he write it ABOUT HER? I've heard conflicting stories throughout the years.They say that he did indeed have a crush on her,and that she helped him out with synthesizer programming on his first album.She also briefly joined his band in 1989 (you can see her during the "Electric Chair" performance on that 'SNL' special).Patrice is great,and it's a shame that the two of them didn't do more work together.

He wrote it 4 Patrice 2 record but she gave it back 2 him according 2 Alan Leeds linernotes in the Hits/B-Sides. Beside, its not even strange if he DID write it about her cuz like you said he had a cruch on the sistah.

Chaz, P's cousin said in recent Uptown article that Prince never had a crush on Patrice, was just a fan of her music.
