F.U.N.K. getting BAD reviews on iTunes

2 stars out of 5 right now...most common complaint is that he sounds like a chipmunk...we are too old to know it is Camille - or close to it. Nobody ever heard Housequake? Damn!

I really don't know how people can rate something if they have only listened to the :30 clip. The clip doesn't do the song justice...you gotta love the piano breakdown spoken part at the end...truly funky.

Not to mention U Got the Look, as well

3121 had the same voice, didn't it? Wasn't that supposedly a #1 record?

People don't "get" much these days, musically, and we should never expect them 2 "get" Prince in any way, as he is constantly misunderstood by the mainstream.

Some of those are just stupid people. It's not even a matter of taste cos their comments don't even make sense. Head over to the UK iTunes and it's great reviews all round - although far fewer have contributed.

It was a bad sample clip. I think that it probably effected sales. I mean out of 7 minutes, they could have got in some funky guitar.

sad

Actually it's usually a good sign for Prince's music when most people don't get it.

Prince should've released it as Camille - no Prince tag to it at all.

there's a difference between being misunderstood and just putting out crappy music....Prince has been doing the latter over the past few years.

I think most of those reviewers didn't actually download the song and based their opinions on the 30-second preview clip, which doesn't do the song justice.

Well it did get played on the radio on saturday. Not sure if you know Choice FM (#1 station for Shit Hop and R&Bull) but the afternoon DJ stated how much he likes Prince and liked the clip, but once he downloaded the full song he thought some parts were too cheesy. He chopped it up, took out all of the Funk and convinced himself it sounded better as "a special choice FM edit"confused

In case you are wondering it sounded like utter shit mad

the fact that this song even made it to Itunes is odd to me

with his picture on the homepage, i'm sure a bunch of teeny boppers bought it because they want to be cool or "hollywood" like PRINCE

and they really have no idea that this song is actually really good

i think it is as good as 'Fury'

i mean, can you imagine him doing F.U.N.K on SNL??

I just looked at the number of reviews for the new music out last tues...what's striking is that the avg no. or reviews for any other artist is about 60...even Beyonce and Gorillaz haven't hit a hundred. Prince is at 1600 plus. If that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what does. And, as there is no such thing as bad publicity, I figure that if Prince can come up with a song within a week of a few sites banning together against him to tell you that you might not like the taste but he's still gonna stick yo face in that funk, I would argue that he came out a winner here. He obviously didn't make it available for casual listeners, so I think the majority of the "reviews" came from disheartened fans.

Just looking at things empirically.

That only adds to my theory that most people are only listening to the preview clip and writing a "review" based on that.

F.U.C.K. iTunes. The reviews mean S.F.A. If you like it. Buy it. If you don't. Don't. End of. The reviews are written by a bunch of idiots.

People don't understand the fast voice, they probably never heard of Camille, and they'd probably give the Camille tracks bad reviews as well. Such is life -- 99% of people, fratboys and most women, are idiots.

We must be looking at different sites - all the reviews I read were positive and he's averaging 4.5 stars! Given his recent press, not bad I'd say.

This song is funny.

The first time I heard it, it was someone playing it on laptop speakers over the phone, right after all the PFU stuff started, and I thought it sounded SO AWESOME!

Then I tried to listen to it on the webpage myself a couple of times, and it sounded kind of irritating, and I didn't make it through all 7+ minutes of it.

I think I've listened to it once since i bought the iTunes download. I like it, but it isn't that special to me.
