A Sirius Prince Channel?

Sirius Satellite Radio.

I mean, come on. There is a Grateful Dead Channel, Elvis Channel, Rolling Stones Channel and now a Bruce Springsteen Channel.

If those channels exist, then I see no reason why there shouldn't be both a PRINCE CHANNEL and a BEATLES CHANNEL. Both Prince and the Beatles would have enough material back-catalog/unreleased/outtakes/live to barely repeat tracks.

This could be the REAL WNPG Prince is always talking about!

Funny you should mention this...my dad and I listen to SIRIUS Elvis Radio all the time, and I just said to him and my sister yesterday: "If there was an All-Prince channel on SIRIUS, I would NEVER turn it off!" To which my sister replied: "Yeah, he's recorded enough material by now, you'd think they could/would do it." We should start a petition/letter campaign to SIRIUS and make this happen! Who's with me???

A Beatles channel is also way overdue. The greatest band in Rock and Roll history surely deserves it! Great post, Bernie. I agree 110% on both counts! clapping

Especially when you factor in all the affiliate and protege material, not to mention b-sides and remixes, plus the endless covers, and even add musical influences from time to time.

I don't have satellite radio, but if this channel existed, I would.

Prince would have to sanction it. Also, part of the appeal of the Sirius stations that were mentioned is the interviews and stories that are told by former associates and band members, and live recordings and everything that fans salivate over. I don't know if Prince would go for that.
And what about the explicit songs? Would Prince sign off on those getting played?
Don't get me wrong - I am a Sirius subscriber, and I would love an all Prince station, but for it to be what the fans would like - Prince would have to allow access to a considerable amount of material that he guards so closely.

The Springsteen channel is absolutely off-the-hook brilliant. If Prince did this, I would be useless because I'd be glued to the radio all day and night.

That would be the greatest thing ever! Not just Prince...you got all the assocaited artists and the stuff he did for people like Madonna, Sheena, etc. The Prince stuff alone would be great. I think they would have to hammer it out with him, though. I believe Bruce is at least slightly assocaited with his channel (he allows for the bootlegs to be played, I heard). I love Sirius and would love this idea. Sadly, they always go with very white rock acts for these channels. There isn't a lot of respect toward the R&B audience, frankly.

:lol; From what I heard, they are noitriously cheap/tight due to the fact that they aren't making a profit yet(except for with Howard but that investment has more than paid off by all accounts). Doubt they would pay anything, which is why we'll probably never see a Beatles or Zeppellin channel. Then again, they probably have to pay to play songs...so if they pay for playing every track and are playing nothing but Prince....I don't know how it works.

I thought a while back I heard rumors of this potentially happening. Either way, I would be ecstatic! Ive been a loyal SIRIUS subscriber for over two years, and would kill for a real NPG Radio station.
