Boycott Prince - No way!!
I'v been a fan 4 ova 20years and in all that time his concert tickets cost almost the same now as they did then, some ppl would pay more for a less talented proformer!!
Not 2 mention he has given away his last album, all u had 2 do was buy a paper or go 2 one of his concerts!! I'v got 5 copies!! lol and its a great album 2!!
Give the man a break and let him get on with it!
U cant fault his music biggrin

Yes, you can fault his music and judging by the above post, the damage he's done to your sense of correct grammar and spelling.

O' well, fault his music all u like, I dont take it personally! I just know what I like!
Is this a case of, if u cant pick on prince, pick on someone else?
I dont know u and I believe that there is no need to get personal about the way I adapt the English language, most do.
Pick on something else, maybe something that is more worth your effort! Or u can just carry on if u like, I wont rise to it again.
I find its nicer being nice and pointless being mean! confused

typical prince since 1979. why should he stop being himself 4 you /i see no erosion only looking forward

Exactly. It is that air of excitement that got me interested in his music in the first place.

not at all. prince the musician and prince the person are two different people IMO. Just because I don't agree with the way he handles things doesn't make him any less of a musician. Funny, my son asked the same thing tonight when I threw on some Prince music. He asked why I was listening to his music after all that is going on, and I told him the same thing, because I like his music.

I don't agree with alot of the whooplah that is going on, but that doesn't mean I don't like his music, nor would I boycott his music, concerts, etc. I can separate the two. I don't have to approve of his tactics, but I can still enjoy the music cool

Of course not. As long as he makes his music available, I'm satisfied. If I don't buy something it'll be based on the measure of my own musical taste, nothing else.

I would never boycott an artist because of their attitude, just if I no longer liked the music they made; saying you're not a Prince fan because you don't like the way he's acted recently is extremely petty.

You're joking right? Adverse publicity? He hasn't had so much good publicity in 20 years! I survived the nineties with my fandom securely intact, why would I go now?

[b][i] eek Boycott Prince???
I Dont think so. whats wrong with ya all? Prince is a Business man and the Product he sells is himself. I fist dug Prince back in da early 80's, then kinda didnt listen to him much from late like 91 till the 3121 album. so it was nice that another website thats not up at moment had alot of vidieo footage from the years I missed, where I could see Princes transformation. and changes in music over those years. I had began 2 think that Prince was kinda a excentric type like Frank Zappa, extremly talented but way out there, just a Dirty Mind, but was pleased to see much more viewing the video's,in saying such from a business prospective, I am a sucessful business woman. and I would have a problem with someone using my name, image(logo) or product without my premission. I have spent years and alot of hard work ,to have a business with the ethics and practices that we have of integraty. so what if someone came along and started using my name, image and products ,who were a bit shady well where would that leave me. the average consumer wouldnt know the difference and someone else would profit on what I spent years of developing.
In the same since prince has been developing PRINCE all these years, name ,logo, image, and music. and people have been using it without his premission. although just a fan site how could that hurt. you might say...well 1 is reputation. there are those who want to bash and slander his image, life, music ect. In writting. for all to see. which is just ones opinion and or/judgment and not nessarly "truth" why boycott him for trying to protect his business ,reputation and life wink

Boycott Prince? Nah.

I've been a fan of Prince's music for a long long time (did you see what I did
there?) and I'm well aware that he can be his own worst enemy sometimes.
I can separate the man and his music, and while I don't always agree with his
viewpoint or condone the way he conducts his business, I still enjoy his
music, and I suspect I always will do.

I love Prince's music, but I'm quite used to him acting like a horse's ass every
so often, so it doesn't really phase me. The current situation is just another in
a long line of similar unnecessary conflicts with his own fanbase. I'm kinda
used to it.

4 what it's worth, it's worth nothing, seriously you need to grow up. With Prince there will always be baggage, it's his art, so by rights it's HIS rules.

Of course not.

The only adverse event from my perspective in recent years has been the closure of NPGMC.

I cannot think of another artist that has given so much: Just this century we have had:

- 12 Ahdio Shows including Rainbow Children and related singles and downloads
- The 4 One Night Alone CDs (1 Studio, 2 Live, 1 Aftershow)
- 3 Jazz album (C-Note, NEWS and Xpedition)
- The Live in Las Vegas DVD
- Musicology and related singles and video downloads
- Various other downloads and streams from NPGMC including two albums for those who missed the Ahdio shows.
- 3121 and related performances
- The Brit Awards, Superbowl, NAACP, Much Music, VH1 and now 21 Nights in London televised or streamed performances
- Planet Earth - IMHO, some of the songs here are among the best he has done esp. the title track
- He has given away millions of albums and now DVDs (unfortunately not in Australia)
- More concert tours than people half his age do or even could do
- You can even get perfume!

And there is more than 20 years of great output in both quality and quantity before that. Whilst most other artists complete their career at or before their 5th album.

My son is a musician who is interested in being in a band when he gets older. I have advised him to be very careful about going fan sites and use the example of how Star Trek fans more than anything else killed the Star Trek franchise by their constant arguing about what Star Trek owed its fans and their displeasure at the direction Star Trek took.

highfive Exactly. I wish a lot more fans on this site and others could learn how to separate the 2. It'll make their lives a whole lot better.

I can separate the man from the music, the point is since The Rainbow Children I don't think he has made more than about 3 songs that I have enjoyed.

He can still put on an amazing show, no doubt about that , but considering the fact I don't enjoy the new music plus he is acting like an ass once again, it wouldn't have taken much for me to not buy the next album anyway lol

Nope,

I'm waiting for him to bring back the NPG Music club and release "The Crystal Ball 2" and take pre-orders for two years, Then release the cd set in record stores and continue to not ship mine for 3 months! The when it finally comes the one released in stores was the cooler one than 1800newfunk!!! HAHAHA!!

I'm waiting for him to release a magazine and then just yank the project and not refund anyone!!!

I'm waiting for him to talk shit about projects and never come thru!!

Most of all I'm waiting!!! for him to get pissed at me for not taking his jehovah witness flyers after knockin on my door..and him and Larry Graham take a big turd on my door step. Maybe Prince will be dressed like Tora Tora and threaten me with his cane.

Beacuse he's that type of guy, a guy that tears down mansions and then builds outhouse style school houses for poor kids in China to make his look like a good guy after tramplin' down some fan sites and fighting idiotic crap like youtube on the internet (ohh just cause google has all that $$$), but he has the right.

Sometimes I feel like a cheap whore that keeps going back to the purple pimp to get slapped around every now and then, but he plays live he every 3-4 years so I will go..and $9.99 for his new cd won't put me in the poor house. Yeah I'll support the mother fucker.

And $9.99 is not a lot to bitch about him and at least the music and live show is greater than what other do. The overall PURPLE experience had some bumps along the way but was fun. At this rate with the new music, its like going to McDonalds and paying $9 and bitching about the food not being as good as stuff you would get at a 5 star restaurant!!!!

I gotta go take a shower...I'm a whore! Yeah I still like the music.
