Who else is longing for a 'far out', experimental, I dont give a fuck album? I mean, after three quite focussed, quite calculated albums (Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth) i am personally longing for Prince just following his muse again and going all out 'weird' again.

I agree, but I doubt it will ever happen, maybe he can squeeze out 1 more song like that but that's about it. I just don't think he WANTS to anymore.

If that gives us a great album, is a different question. I mean: personally i love Lovesexy (over the top in a good way), and i despise The Rainbow Children (an irritating mess), while The symbol album (Very bombastic, but also a 'guilty pleasure') falls in between those two, for me at least. His last three albums are proof that he still can deliver focussed albums appealing to a broad range of fans, but i dont think i can stand a 4th album in that vein. I rather hear him taking risks again, delivering 10-minute long 'suites', some spaced out hard funk-jams or songs that mix musical styles that nobody else seems able to combine, then delivering a 4th album that makes me think: nice and decent, but were is the real action? Anyone agrees? YEEESSSS!!! Gets real thirsty in the desert....

Sure! Prince has been playing it safe with these two good comebacks (3121 and Musicology) and with the recent release of Planet Earth, he took a 180-degree approach to go back to his pop-rock chops and it worked pretty well. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he drops something like a double album next with more complex, ambitious stuff. I'll certainly buy it... "Everything Must Change, Nothing Stays The Same!"

I 600% agree, but I also partly think Planet Earth had that mentality. Seeing as it's an extemely divided album to fans and critics. It spans five different genres on one disc, and lacked the "formal packaging" cd's usually have (personally, i thought that was cool, as I am clumsy and lose cases like it's my job)

I would love that but I would personally want it to be either on the funk or the rock tip, but not on the jazzy tip...I dig jazz but I'd rather hear him go all weird in the funk/rock direction.

Well if we talk about it enough on the org he probably will come up with something.

I've always leaned a bit more toward his "experimental" stuff. So I'd be pretty happy if he went that route again in the near future. But honestly... I'd be satisfied with just about anything as long as he spent a bit more time at the mixing console with it than he did with PE. And for the love of God don't let Eddy Schreyer anywhere near it. Exactly. The type of hard uptempo funk/rock that none of today's general public would like. Andy has spoken dammitt.

I'm not opposed to the WHOLE Star Wars universe- just as long as there's no Darth Vader Voice or blabbery Jar Jar Binks influence (Larry G, ain't it weird how much he looks like Jar Jar) . I agree, I'd love another experimental album. Especially in the vein of The Rainbow Children or Around The World In A Day. "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." - Khalil Gibran

Seriously though, I just want to hear the man play. He's had 3 commercially viable discs in a row. Nothing wrong with that. He is, afterall, in a business that requires an audience, so you need something broadly appealing now and then to keep a decent-sized audience. I'm all for artistic integrity and experimentation, but we can't forget this is his job. I's not even an issue of money for The Kid at this point, of course. I suspect Prince, like many people his age who've worked their whole life, wouldn't know what to do with himself if he stopped doing what he does or even took it easy for a while. Though I think we're definitely overdue a this point for another weird ass for-the-hardcore-fan-set that sounds like he's been playing around with a variety of drugs. The fanbase may have a love/hate with TRC, but you can't deny it was interesting. We are stardust. We are golden.

TRC "experimental"? Ehm... well... yeah the Darth vader voice was pretty experimental indeed. Maybe the title song too, but the rest? Pretty regular Prince mixing of some funk, rock, r&b, jazz and a little latin here and there. Not made for the masses, but not experimental either.

I would love if he did a whole album that he refused to perform live because the catch is...It's a super dirty album. I'm talking about song's freakier than head and all the rest with alot of Moaning and "ouwwwww"s on the album. Basically an album in RARE form. I would be perfectly fine without him singing it live. And I would cherise it forever as one of my little guilty pleasures....well that and chocolate I might marry Prince. But I'll hate all 5 minutes of it. He'll be trying to kill me while I'm trying to kill him watching us kill ourselves.

Yeah, like "I dont give a fuck" if people think I sound like Shit. I dont give a fuck if MrGoodnight sounds dated and plastic. I dont give a fuck if All the midnights sounds like a retard. I dont give a fuck if Resolution lyrics are completely stupid. I dont give a fuck if Planet Earth is completely meaningless. Yeah Im gonna show them all how crap I am. I dont give a fuck!!

I'm longing for a proper funk album. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Anyone agrees? I totally agree because this safe approach just aint working for him. He needs to bring back Michael B and Sonny T. I'm also longing for a full-on Funk album like say a modern version of Camille. But I'm not raising my hopes. Prince really likes being a popstar.
