23rd July 2007 12:30:03 Michael Jackson is being advised on how to save his career by former chart rival Prince. The eccentric star has reportedly turned to Prince, who he battled for pop supremacy in the 80s, for help with his comeback. The 'Purple Rain' singer is said to have told Michael to play a series of acoustic shows in Las Vegas to prove to the world he is still an amazing talent. A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Prince has been suggesting that Michael play a sequence of unplugged concerts in Las Vegas - just Michael and the microphone. No gimmicks, no costume changes, no smoke or mirrors, just his voice." It seems Prince has had a change of heart towards his one-time rival. Earlier this year, the diminutive star snubbed Michael's offer of a joint tour to help him re-launch himself on the world stage. Prince was said to be concerned that the hype surrounding Michael's comeback would over-shadow the concerts, and he wasn't prepared to be the 'Beat It' singer's support act. Michael's career has been in free fall since his 2003 child sex abuse trial. Although he was acquitted on all charges, he has struggled to regain his once huge fan base and has been plagued by rumours his once massive fortune has dwindled. http://www.femalefirst.co...16802.html Well...Welll...Well....I hope he listens.

Yeah, how amazing would that be: MJ in a Unplugged session, churning out his greatest hits. Or any other good material. Bring it on!

They were repetitive but it would be nice to have had him maybe alternate on keys as well some nights maybe. Many songs were just snippets.

Remember, he did the solo piano thing for a third or more of each One Night Alone tour! __________________________

Remember, he did the solo piano thing for a third or more of each One Night Alone tour! Sure but it was the same thing, a verse or just a line or two of a song. I know he did The Art of Musicology but he could definitely expand on it. As far as MJ, it's what he needs to do but he's such a perfectionist I don't think he could handle being stripped bare. Does he really still have the voice? It would be a great way to prove it.

Sounds like a ploy to dupe mj into a final, spectacular humiliation !!

Remember, he did the solo piano thing for a third or more of each One Night Alone tour! and pretty much every tour. Musicology was the first time he ditched the piano medley and did an acoustic guitar set, i think. The real question is: would Michael follow the advice?
We are stardust. We are golden.
Feb. 12th -28th: Two weeks of corporate and nationalistic dick-stroking in the guise of a sporting event. I can not wait.

i dont really care for prince's acoustic medleys (whether piano or guitar) but i dont really care for jam-heavy setlists half filled with cover versions either. a happy medium is needed

i am not surprised to hear this, because after p's 'mail on sunday' deal it is obvious that he has great ideas for a music industry which is suffering from the lack of CD sales, p seems on his way to set new standards in the areas of marketing and distribution which he has often talked about and which would benefit all artists including jackson. I listened to Ben today (yes, the song about the rat) and it made me sad . . . not only because it's from a sad movie, but it reminds me of how MJ's career has fallen.

Prince is trying to fuck him up because I can't think of anything more boring than a damned unplugged show. Wait a minute....there's a lot of dull asses that like that sort of thing so it might be successful. Andy has spoken dammitt.

I don't believe this for a second. If I recall, MJ asking Prince to tour with him and being turned down (and crying) was fake as well.

MJ don't have the musical chops to carry off this type of show... MJ was a brilliant singer/dancer...best of all time, however, that's all he was. Let's not compare him to Prince, best musician of all time, but rather, compare him to someone like Sammy Davis Jr (who I don't hear anyone calling a musical genius).

Mike has been in this industry all his life. If he was truly that stumped as to how to get back in the limelight I'm sure he's been around long enough to know that he can just "copy" whatever is hot right now. It would suck.. but he could try it.
