I was just doing some digging in the Emmy archives on their website, and as far as I am able to tell, this is the FIRST TIME that a Superbowl Halftime Show has been nominated for an Emmy Award!

The Outstanding Special Class Program category is not given out every year. It appears to be a category that comes and goes when enough events garner enough votes to fill up a nomination slate in a given year. But I don't see any other Superbowl-related anything on the list of past nominees and/or winners.

So no matter what happens, this is a big deal and a reminder of what a magical show that was.

And if we're in need of a silly omen, maybe we can use this:
Barry Manilow won an Emmy last year, and we've been accusing Prince of lifting from "Could It Be Magic" (Chopin prelude...whatever) in "Planet Earth." HA HA! Maybe it's a sign...

Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

i wonder why this isn't on the 3121.com site. i mean- Prince isn't nomimated but he's the reason the show was great. and i think the camera work of the show was great. i wonder why Prince wasn't nomiated. there's a category he would have been perfect in- i forgot what it was though. lemme check.

Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Special <<< not Prince himself, but the halftime special could go in this category.

Outstanding Individual Performance In A Variety Or Music Program -- Prince could have been in this category. I mean, Ellen Degeneres is nominated for hosting the Oscars.....

it was very well put together i thought... when i was watching it live i was just sitting there waiting for Purple Rain i knew he had to play it lol. and he didnt fail to impress it was great

i really think thats gonna be a hard one to beat for the next halftime shows.

well deserved nominations- it's often the behind the scenes ppl's who get 4gotten

but,
if Prince hadn't put on such a great performance.....

yeah...thinking back on it...there were some GREAT camera shots that added greatly to the entertainment value. Lots of long range pans to close-ups...great angles...plus all of that coupled with the impediment of the rain....BRAVO camera crew and technical direction people...U made da man look good when it easily could have been dissasterous.
