Dreadful.  I hated it immediately upon first listen. Made myself listen to the album again a few days later...had it playing as "background" music at work and wasn't really paying attention until a horrible song seeped into my consciousness and I had the urge to skip it. It was Lion of Judah. 
Forced myself to listen to the album again to today. Still hate Lion of Judah; not only has it not grown on me, I seem to dislike it more and more each time I listen to it. 
I hate the cheesy religious lyrics. Granted I'm not really a fan of religious songs to begin with, but I can deal with them if the music is good enough. Case in point--I like most of TRC, but this Lion song makes me want to lunge for the skip button. Unfortunately the following song, Resolution, gives me similiar urges. 
I'm "this close" to giving up on listening to Planet Earth (the album) anymore. The more I listen to it, the more I dislike it.  | |

 Judging people's "fan" level on their dislike of two songs means you're overly judgemental. I have a right to my opinion and disliking a song or two or even an entire album  does not mean I'm not a "true" fan, or a "fam" or whatever so gtfohwtbs while I go listen to 3121.  | |

He even breaks out the octaver on the lead guitar. Well arranged, well recorded, like nearly everything on this album, which was recorded, mixed, and mastered perfectly. So much detail. "He's a musician's musician..." | |

Haven't heard the song yet, but these lyrics seems really interesting to me. Sad to think that some people see this as a religious song - they clearly can't get past the most literal reading of some small part of the chorus.
It is actually a song about whether someone loves him - now that he is old, and lives such a strange life. It sounds kind of melancholic - like "can I have a real life with people anymore?" Maybe even a little bit bitter... Oh, and interesting to note that it starts (to my ears at least) with the same chord as Purple Rain - I wonder if this will cause live performance confusion? Finally worth noting that it follows on directly after the song "Chelsea Rodgers" - someone who is apparently very nice to be around I hope she appreciates the sentiment  [Edited 7/16/07 15:42pm] | |

I don't think it is about god. The religious image is used because he looks to religion for answers, but the song is about his own struggles (though the source of his struggles in this song could be interpreted as a person, himself, writing music, his fans, critics, you name it). I think he hopes that he can be like the lion of judah and have the power to overcome, he is not saying that "christ is the answer to all my problems, lets all believe in him.. yay!". we know that he can get preachy these days so it is easy to think that every time he references god it is some princely christian rock and roll song.
But until he found what he believed in and started talking about it, we didn't used to judge his songs so superficially like we do now. How many times did he reference god over the years? When he made those references (especially something like Let's Pretend We're Married), it encouraged us to look deeper into a song for meaning. Now the second he says anything related to a religion in a song, I'm seeing more and more people immediately skipping the track and saying "I don't want to be preached to". I can't understand all the negative comments for this great track based on people thinking it's a religious song. I'm sure they're just looking at the title and presuming. I hear more preaching in 'Chelsea Rodgers' than in LOJ. | |

It sounds closer to a Wendy & Lisa song more than a Prince song!
Not his best vocal work and yes it does sound like a modified "Cinammon Girl"! Forgettable at best but worth hearing him with Wendy&Lisa again. 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!
