Harmonica

I'm unaware of anything that illustrates that Prince can really play the harmonica.

Basically, on one recording, he blows into the instrument with no evidence that he can really play it.

Other than that, the harmonica is either sampled or played by other people on his recordings.

i saw him do the same thing on the Rave 2000 dvd during Higher but i was under the impression that he could actually play the harmonica.

Prince doesn't play harmonica during the performance.

On 'Higher' he plays guitar throughout and calls on Jimmy Russell to perform on harmonica briefly. Russell is also showcased playing during the Bonus section of the DVD.

no P has a harmonica on that performance, when he is walking away, he blows in it. When Kip says higher and the crowd says higher back. watch again and u will see it.

Personally, I think you are just assuming that for a brief moment, Prince somehow acquired a harmonica, raised it(without it being visible) to his mouth, failed to make any recorded sound, and then somehow managed to lose any evidence of the alleged instrument.

After Jimmy Russell has soloed and Kip works the audience, there are very brief glimpses of Prince. There are a few frames as he walks across stage and raises his hand to his mouth. He is seen at an angle, and he is most likely cupping his hands around his mouth as he sings and encourages the audience to return. There is no evidence before, during or after the shot that there is a harmonica in his hand and no audio pick-up that even suggests he blew into one.

He doesn't really play drums!

In 80's he used Lindrum drum machines to "PROGRAM" and "SEQUENCE" his drums. He never plays the real drums.

In the 90's he used the MPC and Roland drum machines as well as software that was becoming available.

On "3121" he used Pro Tools with VST's to sequence his drums.

He can probably jam out on the real drums, but he's no drummer and he doesn't drum on his own records. If you hear live drums, and notdrum machines on his records, then it is played by others.

If he's credited for doing THE WHOLE TRACK, including the drums, then the drums were probably layed out using a drum machine.

According to Michael Bland he is and he does.

Prince can play saxaphone altho not very good. The question is can he play not what instruments is he an expert at. He can play drums, as evidenced in the America video, SOTT movie and Rave DVD. I believe there is also vid of him playing on sax besides the face down video where he is miming.

Prince was being sarcastic cause Dick Clark pissed him off .. if u watch that again.. look @ Prince.. in the beginning all was fine he was happy.. but the minute Clark talked about his age.. Prince was offended ..

Maybe because he had to lie, did he say he was only 19 lol lol

confused Michael just got off tour with Soul Asylum...in fact he has been touring pretty much non-stop with various artists.

I trust Michael Bland who comes off as honest and if you read any of the threads here he was recently on, he seems to give very honest answers that if Prince somehow got a wind of, would be much more upset at (if he would get upset at all) than Michael not praising Prince's drumming skills.

And if you watch the America video (extended version) and see Prince actually drumming, it seems to back up Michaels assesment of his drumming skills.

You on the otherhand.....

Musical notes fool....

A common tuning scale...and EADG4 is a book by John Falstrom written with the intention of teaching the bass guitarist what music theory is and how it works on the fretboard of the bass guitar.

Not that I was real proficient with reading music or using tradition music theory. We played more to what sounded right with what we were doing. Nothing major, but I played.
