Travel information for Non-British fans wanting to attend 21 Nights in London Several people outside of the UK have asked for information with regards to getting to or staying in London.
Here are some basic facts to help you: The Venue The O2 Arena is situated on the south bank of the Thames, right next to the North Greenwich Tube station. Once in London, you can get to the arena by taking a tube on the Jubilee line, taxi (road or boat) or you could drive (not recommended). Traveling from Europe You have 4 airports to choose from: City (the nearest), Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick. Trains are available from all 4 airports into the centre. I would recommend Stansted, as it has the cheapest flights in and out, and you can get the Stansted express train (via Liverpool St and Stratford). Easy Jet and Ryan Air do very cheap flights. Better still is the Euro star train. This comes through the channel tunnel and stops at Stratford, which is only 3 stops on the Jubilee tube line to the venue. Traveling from outside of Europe The most commonly used airports are Heathrow and Gatwick. Either one of these has an express train into London (15 minutes). Hotels Thousands to choose from. If you are traveling from outside of Europe, you may be better staying in the centre of London. The area with the biggest volume of hotels is called "The West End".Staying here could also be handy if prince throws an aftershow, as most clubs are near by. If you are traveling from Europe, depending on your mode of transport, you could save a bit of money staying at Stansted or Stratford. In all cases, some of the cheapest chain hotels are Travelodge, Ibis, Novotel, Holiday Inn Express. Check out this web site for an idea of prices www.lastminute.com. Extremely cheap (but clean) is www.easyhotel.com, Tickets You can buy them at www.ticketmaster.co.uk and they will deliver internationally. They go on sale at 9am Friday (British summer time). If you use the trains, you can get a discounted travel card each day. You can ask for this at the stations. I hope this helps. I'm sure some other org londoners can chip in with some good recommendations for you. Feel free to chuck questions! (except, can you get me tickets!) . [Edited 5/9/07 6:47am] . | |
