I'm not sure how many people here have this channel... its CW, I think it's called. It used to be WB17 here, if I'm not mistaken.

I found out thru the TVguide website... and when I saw it there, I nearly fainted. I started hyperventilating... coulda swore that I was gonna have a heart attack.

I saw it 4 the first time over a month ago...


Just thought I'd give a heads up in case anybody was interested.

Heh, this will be my 7th time seeing it. I keep thinking that his Greatness has a certain plan 4 me for my journey as his loyal follower... this wasn't exactly the move I'd expect...

I have the dvd which is better than putting up with adverts and editing for tv

Probably the one thing I won't like them doing is speeding thru the credits... i always watch thru the credits cuz I love hearing the way Prince edited all those songs together to give a bit of a sypnosis of the film.

Yeah, it was great the 7th time around... but this station made some revolting cuts.
They would have been better off adding an extra 1/2 hour to the movie... in others, a half hour woth of commericals...

Some cuts, I understood... little bits and pieces here and there.
But I'll listen my pet peeves:

Cutting a verse from:
The Beautiful Ones
Take Me With U

(that was slightly reasonable...)

But the things that had me screaming @ the TV:

cutting down "the password" scene
tearing Darling Nikki to shreds (I was expecting this... but 4 some reason, I flipped out anyway... the song's really grown on me, I guess)

The worst thing they did was cut out "Baby I'm A Star" COMPLETELY... and sped thru the credits with "Purple Rain" playing (luckily, they left it intact in the film)...

If this had been the first time I ever saw Prince... I doubt I'd have been taken in by him the same way with the cut of "Baby I'm A Star"

That 2-parter was one of the best 10 minutes of my life... made me feel head over heels.

I'll definitely buy the DVD when I come into enough money... and get home when the semester's over. And I'll be spending the rest of the night playing thru the songs they cut/shredded...

It's strange, though. I saw The Kid as a character seperate from Prince, but he becomes Prince again during the last 10-minutes (or the supposed last 10 minutes)...
And I just figured out that "Father's Song" is identical 2 my fav. part of "Computer Blue"... I never made that connection b4, I kept reading about it, but I actually heard it this time.

VH1 would have been more reasonable... they didnt cut out "the best 10 minutes of my life" when I saw it a couple of years ago.

Well, it wasn't a total loss... I learned a few more things, and I feel a bit more grounded cuz I saw Prince as "The Kid", not as himself... the blood tends to go to my head when I watch the movie, thinking of him as playing himself.

Even tho I have both dvds,I still watch it on tv every chance I get!Love that movie!

I think the first scene I saw that afternoon was the 'When Doves Cry' scene.

Even after that day, I was very casual about Prince, never took any initative, but watched whatever appearances came up. Then I was so impressed by the "SuperBowl" performance that I decided to check into 2 him 2 see what I find.

I found this site and I've been become a huge admirer of his Greatness... have been 4 a little more than 2 months.

I started another blog on this that I might add 2 as the night goes on... I gotta listen thru the soundtrack to get thru the songs they butchered.

I think I find the of Purple Rain- the album.

Again, I find that Prince has a logical explanation, a method 2 his madness... he wanted me to find his heart within the album and that's just what I did.

I did not like it because they cut it! I've got the anniversary DVD I'll stick to that.
