Well, Prince and his attorney's are monitoring again. They just pulled all videos from the housequake forum. Man sometimes I wonder why I stay a fan. I love his music and the guy has great talent but, DAMN he can be the biggest baby. What does it hurt to have video clips on a sight? He isn't making the $ off the videos. What is this guys problem.

IMO...I don't think it is Prince personally saying "get those videos off HQ, I don't want any of my fans/friends seeing that stuff for free"

If that was the case, why can't he release more of his stuff so we can get it, I would love to have some of that stuff, not just watch on the monitor screen.

It is very frustrating...

I think of all the genius and brilliance that Prince has put out, that is sooooo freaking hard to find and expose to others, whether it's his work released under pseudonyms, or his awesome concerts/CDs that are now out of print and were always near-impossible to find. He doesn't do a lot to encourage new fans by being accessible, that's for damn sure.

It's especially frustrating because if there's any artist who is going to be supported by fans no matter how much material is available to them for free, it's Prince. We buy multiple versions of his stuff for the most trivial reasons. And let's not forget his "essential" merchandise. Signature incense and candles anyone?

1. prince is famously/notoriously a control freak about the use of his music and any kind of image with his face on it.

2. prince is also famous for not having a lot of time for retrospectives, greatest hits, best-ofs, etc. - he doesn't have a lot of regard for archival releases because he likes to "move forward".

so. he wants his old videos off the web so nobody can see them anymore, because he has no desire to see his old stuff released.

Ya know it is even just about not being able to see the damn videos. It's everything we as fans have done for him, without us where would he be, he's made millions off of us!

It's like I busted my ass to find The Black Album for a decent price...so I could even hear the damn thing...

Why would he or whoever take that little peak of videos off of a computer screen away from us...

Life is too short for these things to happen...


I am mad and need to get over it...but jeez, some of us can't afford to go to his vegas shows unless we take out a second mortgage on our homes, so why take this away

uh, i'd be pretty sure prince or universal don't own the copyright to half the stuff that was on housequake. they certainly don't own the rights to the tv spots, so have no legal recourse in asking them to be removed

I am sorry but there are things out there that we may not have seen and want to keep up so I think we should as fans be able to view video anytime. He just isn't making the $ of the stuff so he pulls it. He is a whinner. Man he makes me angery.

I don't see it as controlling the fan sites. It's about protecting HIS investment. This is indeed unfortunate, but I stay hopeful when reading 'suspend' as opposed to 'cancelled'. I just watched the 98 Vibe clip last night and will seriously miss the convenience of being able to do that at any given time, not to mention the variety of Prince material available if they can't work it out....I just discovered HQ in December so I know I haven't watched everything yet. Actually because of HQ I purchased Aladdin Live, so maybe Prince should consider it a marketing tool.

The video forum has been suspended several times now, each time Housequake manages to negotiate an arrangement to keep it going, I expect they will do so again and everyone is panicking for nothing.

what the hell. I thought they made an agreement from the last time? did anything happen since then? was a new video posted that broke the agreement? this is crazy. I wondered what happened.

i think HQ is prince's chew toy.

Whilst Housequake does not host any copyrighted material and merely provides links to external sources, we have decided to remove these links as a gesture of goodwill whilst further communications occur between all parties.
