The movie Purple Rain

I just watched Purple Rain yesterday for the 189th time. How many times have you all seen it? couch

That's INSANE. I've seen it 50 times, and I thought that was excessive! lol

BUT... I've seen Under the Cherry Moon 58 times. I've actually watched it 4 times in the last month. It's just a fun movie to pop in when you're doing stuff around the house... and in my opinion... while it's not better than Purple Rain, it's definitely more fun.
The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

i saw purple rain 6 times in the theaters when it originally was released. i can't tell you how many times i've seen it on video or on TV...i've seen bits and pieces of it tons of times over the years, so it kind of fragments how i'm able to count the times i've seen it...really, the times in the theater are the times that count for me, because it was most fun watching it with a big audience back when prince was first getting to be really really huge in the states. those were good times. nod

I saw it 6x in the week I rented it from Blockbuster.

And the first time I ever saw it was the first day I watched that DVD. That was nearly 2 wks ago.

Oh, and I loved every minute of it.

I saw it 7 times in the theater. I have no idea how many times I've seen it over the years on VHS or DVD.

Oh gosh I dunno. I think I stopped counting after a 100. Like I have a copy at my house that I watch frequently and my best friend has a copy that we watch at his house whenever we get bored. LOL!

Other than the four times I saw it in the theaters... I've seen it an obscene amount of times and wouldn't even want to speculate on the ridiculous number of times I've watched the movie in full. lol

The "Darling Nikki" scene itself drives me insane and makes me nutty and drool3

But I find it hilarious when he's pacing in his dressing room in the following scene.

You can own the bare bones Purple Rain DVD for $9.99 in most stores. But, I recommend the 20th Anniversary Edition with a second disc of great extras, including live concert footage and videos. I just bought it for $19.99

Love Purple Rain, especially the club scenes. Plus, I like the semi-autobiographical story.

Looking at it after all these years makes me laugh. The acting, for the most part, wasn't stellar, which is understandable since the band members weren't actors, and the dilaogue isn't great, but it never bothers me.

I wish they'd release ALL of the music from the movie on one CD, including the songs from the soundrack we all know and love, PLUS all of the other music that appears in the movie, including the TIME, Appolonia 6, and Dez Dickerson
