Did Prince ever compose a few dozen symphonies before he died at 36?

I think you'll find the answer to that in the FAQs!

Shittttz.....did they EVER play some FUNK?

Mozart did. For his time, his librettist was a "rapper" in Venice. However, he does not fit your original criteria as he is taking a dirt nap.

Can Prince cook?

I had a dream once that Prince was at my house making scrambled eggs in the kitchen while I was watching "A Different World" on tv.

Based on this I would say yes, Prince can cook.

Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder are equal to Prince in many aspects. If talent in this thread means, can anyone else write, produce, compose, sing, dance, and play more than one instrument on their album, all without a head record label pulling the strings, than nobody compares to Prince. But, there have been lots of great singer/songwriter/producer/etc. artists throughout history that are just as good as Prince...maybe not better than him, but just as good. Just my twocents

I know people who are better songwriters, better guitarists, better singers, better pianists, better dancers, but Prince does it all. I haven't seen another jack-of-all-trades more talented than Prince.

Paul McCartney is more talented - better songwriter, and just as able on the same instruments as Prince (guitar, bass, drums, piano).

The only area Prince excels over Paul is guitar soloing.

I like Prince better, but I have to be objective.

I think R Kelly is AS talented, but maybe not MORE talented than Prince..I mean that guy has a lotta good music in his head...and a very talented musician as well..

Yeah I agree R.Kelly is very talented that man writes hit after hit. But me personally I never compare people with actual talent. Prince is excellent in his own way and so is R.Kelly! cool

My question is this, why do some of you swear that Prince is the "End all be all" of musicians?, i mean surely you guys listen to everything else right? i mean there are different genres of music, and as for who's more talented? why does talent have to be a competition. talent is a gift and is not something to take for granted.

Actually, I kinda think of Prince as a modern Mozart. Someone who's dedicated his life to music, with the exception of 2 things:

a) Prince isn't a child prodigy (at least not the same respect as Mozart)
b) Prince is at least grounded enough to know there's more to life than recording
that was one of my original thoughts, but I don't compare the 2 anymore.

Honestly I don't care who is better or more talented. Each artist brings THEIR own unique thing 2 the table. If I dig it, I buy it. If I don't like it, I don't buy it.

That said, Prince is the BEST 2 me. wink

If we are talking strictly music, then Prince is probably the most talented in the world, although that doesn't mean the best. If in gereral then there are people as talented, Jackie Chan being one.

Prince will always be my favorite. To me, there's an elite club of people who reach that status (Prince, Paul McCartney, U2, David Bowie, Clapton, Hendrix).

Unless you can find me someone who:

* writes his own music
* plays 20+ instruments (and in most cases, plays all of the instruments on the album)
* can really move bananadance
* can make any genre [from pop & rock to hip-hop to rap to funk, etc.] sound awesome
* writes music from the heart (eye double-dog dare u on that one)
* cloaks the stage with his aura

My answer's going to be a resounding NO!

Prince is the ultimate and there is no one more talented than him.

Although there are some people who come close, I would consider those people to be:

Jack Bruce - He plays bass to the highest level and is a great singer, as well as being great on, piano, harmonica and the cello. He's been known to play the acoustic guitar well on occasion too.

Nobuo Uematsu - This guy is right up there with the greatest composers ever. Most of the music he composed for the first 9 Final Fantasy soundtracks is VERY diverse, as well as being quite experimental in parts, he's a true genius!

There is a few other people I would add but I don't feel like writing a whole load more right now. razz

Those people are John Barry, Lalo Schifrin and Akira Yamaoka.
