There was NOT a single person in the Revolution who could touch their counterpart in the NPG. Not one excluding the one constant which was Prince himself. If u want some censored shit.......go elsewhere. If u want the TRUTH, come 2 me.

Since my top 3 Prince albums came out of the New Power Generation days I'll go with NPG My name is Stacey, and I am funky...

I like NPG a lil better. Their sound on Diamonds & Pearls & The Love Symbol album is underrated. "I'M OK AS LONG AS YOU ARE HERE WITH ME!!! SEXUALITY IS ALL WE EVER NEED!!!!!"

It's hard to say, because the NPG has been around for about 17 years, with a constantly changing line up. Still, no one can replace Lisa and Wendy... Wanna hear me sing?

Whatever, man. As long as John Blackwell is on the drums its cool by me.I loved the new year 2000 when the p-man performed with sly and the family stone also."DO U LOVE GOD?.EVERY DAY.EVERY DAY."

Well my fave Prince albums include PR, ATWIAD and Parade so i'd have to go for the Revolution. To say that no one in the Revolution can match their counterpart in NPG seems a little off the mark to me. Look at the body of work Wendy & Lisa have put together even in just the last few years with their scores for tv.

Neither. The back-up band before it officially had a name is the best:

NEWSFLASH-- the NPG is over too. I think everyone knows the Revolution is over, I think we were just being asked which we preferred, not what year we think it is!!! I prefer the Beatles to Oasis, but i don't think the Beatles are still together, nor do I think it's 1964. I don't see how something happening now against something from 20 years ago makes any difference when deciding which you prefer to listen 2. So in the context of the thread I don't see the relevence [Edited 3/9/07 9:36am] " A mind changed against its will, is of the same opinion still"

Revolution, no contest. You just watch that America video and you will understand. Each one of those people was hungry for that music. Prince stands for Penises Rise In Naughty Creamy Explosions, therefore confirming Prince's satanic homosexual tendencies once and for all. -NouveauDance

Are you talking about technical skills or creative input ? Dr. Fink, Wendy and Lisa had a much greater creative impact. Then again, the old NPG with Sonny, MikeB and Morris Hayes was his tightest band . ( Let´s not discuss the SOTT/Lovesexy band since this thread is about the Revolution VS. the NPG ). And by the way, Morris Hayes himself told me how much respect he had for Dr.Fink´s skills. I think it´s not fair to compare musicians. Even much criticized people like Kirk J. contributed something, and isn´t it funny that experts like Michael Bland have more nice words for Kirk Johnson´s contributions than a lot of non-musician fans ? But that´s just a sidenote. Both groups were totally different and showcased different aspects or facets of Prince and his music. [Edited 3/9/07 9:47am]
