Gold or Emancipation?

It's evident that in the prince years the 2 best albums to come out were the Gold Experience and Emancipation. They were both critically acclaimed and sold well. But which one is better? I love both of them but I'll have to give the slight edge to Emancipation. Only because it has more songs available and I always said it was #5 on my all time list of Prince albums. Gold would be 7 or 8. What do you think?
Peace and be wild!

"The Gold Experience" pisses all over "Emancipation"... Oh, and "Chaos and Disorder" is a WAY better album than "Emancipation"! nod

I"m the wrong person to ask. TGE was my first, and favorite, Prince album.

The Gold Experience and Emancipation should not be mentioned together. Gold is far superior.

The Gold Experience

Emancipation has some great songs(2nd disc and parts of 3rd disc),
it's an easy listening album imo.
Gold is almost the Purple Rain of the 90's.

Top5 album cool

Gold is almost the Purple Rain of the 90's... boy, I've been hearing a lot of raving about Gold. I need to hear more songs before I know for sure, but the track with the same name, I'm currently going nuts over cuz it reached me the way prince has as a musician.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I'd rather listen to almost anything other than Emancipation. It's awful!
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

The Gold Experience.

It's much more energetic. The songs on the Gold experience are deliberately catchy, and the band is top notch.

I was really hoping when I heard Emancipation was "the album Prince was born to make", that it would be 3 hours of the Gold Experience. lol

The Gold Experience, by far - I'll even vote for Chaos and Disorder over Emancipation.

Heh, so do I, really - It tends to get brushed off a lot, so I'm quick to assume that most fans don't care for it much. Great little album - Lots of gems on there. cool

I would say Gold also. What a great album all around. It really was a return to form and a proper, concise prince album with a definite vibe.

But, it never did anything and is now out of print. Truly one of Prince's lost treasures.

I never hated Emancipation. I love a couple of songs (Somebody's Somebody, White Mansion, In this Bed I Scream) and like a couple more such as Soul Sancutary, The Plan, and his version of I Can't Make You Love Me. It's a good album for customizing. Lot's of decent songs among average songs. I've burned by own custom 1CD Emancipation.

Gold any day of the week.
Emancipation was ok but there was to much material on it. If he had taken the best material from all 3 CD's and put then onto one he could've had a fairly good album but GIVE ME GOLD ANYDAY
