HELLO (extended B-side)

I haven't lost my desire
I wouldn't beg U
Instead of playin' deduction of what 2 do
They called me rude often
When I called their hand
They judged me and told me that we're through
"Why can't U be like the others?"
I cried out over and again
"Why can't U learn 2 play by the rules?"
But maybe at last it's the end
Because I am not like others
I'm unique in the respect I'm not U

I know in my heart I would try 2 love U
I wouldn't try 2 hurt U despite all the ways U try 2 hurt me
U call me a fraud, an uncaring wretch
But I'm an artist and my only aim is 2 please
Between U and yours, myself and mine
Isn't life cruel enough without cruel words, cruel words?
U see, words are like shoes
They're just something 2 stand on
I wish U could be in my shoes
But they're probably so high, U'd fall off and die
4 U words are definitely not shoes
They're weapons and tools of destruction
And your time is boring unless U're putting something down
What would life be if we believed what we read
And a smile is just hiding a frown?
Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes?

that part is just love so dreamy and cool. the music is ultra cool as well!

love love love this song

nod
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

If we're talking underated, then I would say "Rock And Roll Is Alive (And It Lives In Minneapolis)". Certainly not A-grade material, but still a killer track that hardly gets a mention on B-side threads.

I agree! This song is very simplistic and stripped down, which is why I like it so much.It would have fit perfectly on ATWIAD.

Yea thats a class tune, sometimes its the small details that just make a song for me its when he sings the line "You got it, baby that's why you flaunt"

Another Lonely Christmas has always appealed to me as one of Prince's only emotionally honest songs. Hits me every time. Beautiful.

I've been collecting every remix and b-side since i was like 11 years old (1983). But as an adult for many years I didn't have a turntable. A few years ago I bought a turntable AND a CD recorder and recorded ALL of my vinyl remixes/b-sides in chronological order. Listening to those extended jams back to back for hours is the BOMB!!! After all that work, I went to a local used CD store and they had CDs with most of these songs on them. lol

Now, only on a Prince fan site can you have a 25 year old wish they were older. lol Too cute. But it's never too late to start, In the last 2 years, I completed my vinyl collection with the remixes for Sexy Dancer and Little Red Corvette as well as some other Prince produced artists by purchasing them on Ebay. That's the greatest invention for anyone who collects ANYTHING. Most of the b-sides we're discussing on this thread can be purchased for decent prices on vinyl on Ebay. So bid on, brothers and sisters.

My favorite b-side is "La, La, La, He, He, Hee." I love it!

Also, the longer the jam, the better, like "America."

Some of you guys mentioned "Girl". I have it on vinyl and haven't heard it in years. Any idea where I can find it on CD?

Peace!

underrated? IMO, I'd have to say 1 or all of these:

4 The Tears in Your Eyes
Shockadelica
Scarlet Pussy
I Love U in Me
[Edited 2/26/07 11:04am]
Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...music

I don't consider that to be a B-Side since it was on the WATW album.

yes, I guess you're right. But since that's not a Prince album, this song always felt like a b-side to me.
