I think if it were on The Truth, it would fit in. It has many Prince influences like Girls and Boys, Lolita, and fascination. shrug I like it.

What would be hilarious would be if this song ended up Fury style at the Super Bowl and he offered it as another DL on Monday. Imagine the furor as each fam clicked "purchase" for the version they really wanted.

which would result in the chimps that run the site letting it implode on itself as they stand around with a confused look on their face?

F!Q! at 3121.com

FQ = fam quotient = the speed by which you got past the initial 3121.com banner, found the download link, read the directions, understood the meanings of the words within those directions, registered a unique username, created a 7+ letter password with a non-alphanumeric character, purchased the song using a valid credit card AND your actual billing address, followed the right links and downloaded the song, and then got the song to play. (bonus points = add the amount of time you waited all day, sitting at your computer and refreshing your browser, before the song was finally available for download)

btw, i really like the song; tho the title had me expecting something much more exciting

I wish he loved his fans as much as he loved his guitar.

And maybe he shouldn't love his guitar as much as just damn playing it.

This was utterly...craptastic.

So much for bringin' it.

I'm done. Gonna put on a Steve Vai CD and be done with it. neutral

I love it, possibly because of the story in the lyrics or the sparse sound. Definately not like Lolita - I'm not a fan of that song.

after one listen...lyrics are kinda fun...but production seems uninspired, so song as a whole is just 'eh' and rather forgettable.

Aaah, NOW I can see all the graphics and everything on the site. tsss.

Anyway, I've got the song and my initial reaction was... neutral
But that's because like so many of us I had expected a completely different sound and it's too monotonous IMO.
But it's got the potential to grow on me and the lyrics are...funny.

Like it. It's cute and fun. The vibe of the song reminds me of an updated version of the some of the unreleased stuff he was doing between the Prince and Dirty Mind albums. And before people get to tripping I said the "vibe of the song". The song in it's own right doesn't sound like either one of those eras.

Guitar for the suerbowl? yay or neigh?

Almost certainly neigh. Think Neon Telephone.

Sounds nothing like Neon Telephone, which is on my most hated Prince songs list along with Jughead and All My Dreams.

I like the concept of the song - to me it reminds me of Kenny Rogers "She Believes In Me" (don't laugh until you listen to those lyrics). They sound nothing alike, but the story is very similar.

I don't like the way Prince tries to wrap up his lyrics with a small little bow. Meaning, he says "I love you, but not like I like my guitar". End. He doesn't leave anything to the imagination.

I would've liked Prince to do something more like this:

Baby you know, it's you I adore
but my guitar, it needs me more
You tell me you can see we're fallin', fallin',
but my guitar keeps on callin', callin' CALLLLLINNNNN!! (Prince scream)
Blazing guitar solo

Octavius

A complete curve ball for those expecting a rock track, no doubt.

This song seems like "If I Could Get Your Attention" meets a watered-down version of "So Far, So Pleased", all the while having the production value of "We Gets Up". Glad I didn't waste $2 on it. Thanks to a friend for sharing.

I do have to agree with a lot of people on here, though, that this is likely either a demo version or just a plain, vanilla album version of a track with the potential to be a hot live number. A different, more guitar-heavy version that's not overproduced/produced poorly might have a chance on radio, but then again, how pissed off would you all be after having just paid $2 for a song that you'll have to pay for again eventually?

I like it for what it is...a simple little catchy tune. Would much rather have some deep, complicated song to show off the obvious talent the man has. Everything he does seems to be rushed just to get it out. The words are always so simple and just don't seem to go together in some parts. It was still worth the wait smile

Took me a while to actually be able to download it. The site kept giving me trouble with the password I chose. It was a nice way to end my day though, a new one from Prince. Bring on halftime!

sorry??? i mean, its 1,99 - so you want to beg others to give you the song for free because you don't want to spent 1,99 - i think its ridicolous!!! if you don't want to spent it then you should wait, till the cd is out - which i believe will never be - because in my opinion this is not a first single of a fourth-coming cd - just one song (to make a little money and to test the new 3121.com functionality - which went wrong in my opinion)

whats wrong with asking if there is a listening hub somewhere? its pretty standard to offer a sample of a song...itunes, amazon and others do it...
