I was there, lalala.

It was SO great. I think it was the biggest response of an audience during Purple Rain in my attendence... the way it sang along the first few lines, how Prince picked up and let us SHOUT the first Purple Rain...

Awright. Kippenvel.

Seems everyone's favourite performance of most songs comes from this show... Probably right too !

He always looked like Andy McCoy from Hanoi Rocks to me during that concert.

Too bad I don't have the VHS anymore, maybe I could quite easily p2p the material though.

nonono.

I certainly did not say that.

Thing is, most of these 'songs' are just brushed, not played in it's entirety, except some songs in the second part of the show.
This show you got to love as an ensemble; the songs tell a story and do not make much sense taken apart.

For instance; I rather have Controversy as played on the Musicology tour; with phat beats and synths, and not just the one verse/one chorus/NEXT! kinda of storytelling of the Lovesexy tour.

I must admit that most times I rather have an original recording, but in this instance I rather have the album recreationof Purple Rain; it is stronger; more magnificent. The live recording you speak of is more a demo version.

It is a bit weird, cuz sometimes Prince takes a recording and he tinkers a bit and it is better. Other times it is the other way around.

It has a little xtra... and sometimes less is more... but the guitar solo on that 1 is clapping
And yes, the strings just lift the song up clapping again
Purple Rain is hot anyways... as per4med by our man Prince

Thank you Brian1 for sharing, that was & still is beautiful. biggrin
God doesn't just tells me how much he "LOVE's" me, God shows me how much he "LOVE's" me. Both telling and showing "LOVE" means to "LOVE". They go hand in hand. You can't have one with out the other. Something is spoken, then followed by an action. That is

He was just so plain awesome for this tour. Completely awesome.

My favourite Purple Rain is from the May 28 1992 Diamonds and Pearls show at the Ahoy in Rotterdam. It's from a show called 2 Live 4 Love (I think) and the crowd is unbelievable. He plays a full version as well. If anyone knows a better version please add it to this thread. I know The Avenue version which is amazing to see.

nod my favorite look- along with Graffiti Bridge.

I have this show on VHS, but it's kind of jumpy. I did see this tour live 3 times, once at MSG and twice at Nassau Col. in Long Island. I think I cried at least once each night touched
Loved the in-the-round set up, and had some of my best seats for P at an arena show...Does anyone remember "the box" used at these shows? lol
Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...music
