It's nice and all if he gets the nod but I'm still mad that no songs from Purple Rain or Batman were even nominated for this stupid category. Why should he get nominated for this song and not the others(although he won for best score). This is what I call the Whoopi Goldberg effect. You don't get the trophy for the true performance you should've won for but, you get one later for a complimentary performance. That's a whole lot of bull if you ask me? Good luck anyway. brick

he didn't win for score but song-score for purple rain...so he did win for a song.

Yeah, he won for the entire album... not for an individual song... they don't have that category 'song score' anymore.

I don't get all the 'congrats to Prince' stuff. All this article says is that the song is ELIGIBLE to be nominated, not that it IS nominated. It's just a listing of all the songs that appeared in films this year that meet the requirements for nomination.

lol

i noticed but was going to be nice and not say anything.

"O Kazakhstan" should win. I've never heard it, but it should as Oscar nominated songs are worse than they used to be and that is a frigthful thing to say.

If not, then something from Dreamgirls. I haven't heard it either, but anytime there's a proper musical around, the songs are a little better.

i think it'll get nominated... it'll be good for Prince and for the movie. Its a good song with a good beat AND a good message.... which is hard to find these days, really. Calm down guys, the nominations aren't even out yet. You can only hop for the best.

Honestly, I think one of the songs from Dreamgirls will win, because there's so much advertising on that movie, and so much media of Jennifer Hudson's performance.

Someone said the Oscars were boring... they aren't boring. It just depends on who's hosting it... Ellen DeGeneres is hosting nect year's Oscars and things are looking good for her.

The real question is : Is Song of the Heart worthy of a oscar? evillol

hell and no.

It's embarrasing it's even released. Sheesh, the man sits on hours of incredible unreleased music, and THAT is what he decides to make public?

What's really remarkable is how I almost never see it mentioned that the movie contains a Prince song. How times have changed...

Tell me about it! One would think that that would be something they'd use to promote the movie with, but no... Sign O' the Times... confused

no... it was "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp"...

but here's the deal with that song, it was an integral part of the film. it aided the telling of the story...this isnt the "best song" used for a movie its the "best use of a song" in a film...two totally different things...and "Pimp" *was* the best use of a song in a movie.

Thanks for the clarification, but I was being sarcastic.
Although I like some hip hop, I just hated the songs from the movie.

That's true...
I've only heard the song ouside its context. I'm going to watch Happy Feet next week and see if I'll change my mind about the song not deserving an Oscar. Which I probably will... hehe.

this is the least excited i've ever been about a prince song, but i hope it gets nominated, just so the possibility will exist that he'll perform it on the oscars. maybe he'll dress the twinz up in little penguin costumes and have them do the sexy waddle.

i'd much prefer Savion Glover perform the song...

-----
Because Savion is such a great singer (LOL). It would be cool if Savion came out and danced while P performs the song.
