'Zup ya'll,
Well, when I was a kid back in the '80s the grammys and AMA's where the shit, but I was never satisfied with how many Prince got. Now that I'm older I realize it's the sell outs that get more awards. So, I see it as a blessing that Prince doesn't have tons of Grammys because they would be less meaningful. Let's be real, music has gone to shit and they're handing out grammys, etc., to any talentless act with good producers who know what's "cool" now-a-days.
Creativity and musicianship is GONE, but only a handful of artists remember this and try to be more original. Artists like India Arie, Maxwell, Brian McKnight, Alicia Keys, etc. have kept true soul lovers like us interested.

"Remember to respect the Music"

Keep the soul ya'll!

That was my first thought too. If I'm running the grammys I'd give him a performance just so he'll show up. No performance means no-show is my guess....

That's not necessarily true. I have a good feeling that he will come and perform on the show. It would really b cool 2 hear him open the show with 3121, Lolita and Kiss. That would b the coolest.

Thanks, I know your comment was dripping with sarcasm or maybe it wasn't. Anyways thats sad if there is any truth to it. I liked P being the rebel guy from the land of snow making unique music with people not knowing a lot about what was going to come out from Pailey Park, not pressing the flesh interlinked with politics. Anyways Congratulations to P! biggrin

My comment was true, I'm sure many on the Grammy committee want to still get invited to these parties when they occur and not putting Prince up for nomination sure won't help that! But I'm not having a go at Prince, he's only doing the same sort of serenading that record companies do on the behalf of their acts to get nominations.

Politics does come into it, keeping your name in the mind of the award givers. Hey, it happened to me. Three people on my small course at University were of equal talent, but unlike the other 2 I didn't spend all my time talking with the head tutor. They weren't allowed to hand out 3 firsts to a class of only 4 people, so those 2 conveniently got the firsts and I got a 2.1!

Not that I'm still bitter of course...

Hilarious. It's Jethro Tull winning "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal Or Instrumental" all over again.

Hopefully he wont do what he did last year , turn up for the afterparty but not actually accept the awards at the ceremony proper , couldnt quite see the point in that . Its like going to a party youre a guest of honour at and standing on the porch .

couldn't agree with you more moonshine but with him anything is possible, just hope he doesn't use that phantom of the opera mask to make a presentation.
