You're the BOSS, drag P back into the studio and make him re do 1 album.pick which 1!

Go ahead crack that whip and take his over productive ass into the studio, hand him your chosen master tape and say 'do it again', delete/add songs, change the instruments, call up W&L! etc.

We all have 1 that we know he could've done a whole lot better, what's your pick, mine's a toss up between Parade [even though it works out of accident and not design P admitted he wasn't happy with the end result] or Rave [easily the album he compromised most on, even Rave INT2 was desperate].

That´s easy. Simply erase all of Tony M´s contributions on Diamonds And Pearls and on the Symbol album and you have two masterpieces.

Emancipation would also benefit from a second visit ...simply use the old NPG with Sonny and MikeB.

Chaos and Disorder...scrap the whole thing, and start all over Prince...11 new songs, all of which would probably be improvements over anything currently on that record.

Erase all the Tony M. stuff off of Diamonds and Pearls and prince and get rid of those annoying segues that come at either the end of the songs or in separate tracks.

No Carmen at the end of The Continental, etc. None of that crap. Then you have one truly great album.

hmmmm....Sign O' Times w/ a few added bonus tracks for each disc.
This album is flawless, I'd just have him update it with current subject matter (a bit).

Yep. He should not have used "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" and used "Joy in Repetition" and something else, maybe another Camille cut, in it's place.

Musicology - He had the right idea but I think he rushed some or just got bored.

Well, it wouldn't be a redo, but if I was in a position to help him release it, I would give bro' a chance to release the original Crystal Ball album in its entirety, and give him all the profits, minus production costs. There's so much good music he did from the Dream Factory/Crystal Ball era, that Prince's career won't really be complete until he releases the unreleased musics in some format.

I'd send him in the studio to remaster 1999. He'd probably edit the content and make me cry, though. mad

Oh, come on , don´t be so hard on those two little gems...I love those two songs....my appreciation for Strollin´ has grown immensely after a nice long late summer walk around a lake and a river with a beautiful girl three years ago....it reminds me of that walk and it is a nice little song with a very uplifting , positive message and nice jazzy guitar playing....and I love the lyrics..

Sweet Baby is a song I needed to get accustomed to...first I found it a bit boring, but now I appreciate it a lot...it´s quite romantic and sweet without being too sugary, and I like that romantic sound that I also hear in Damn U.

Have you heard the drastically rearranged version of Sweet Baby during that rehearsal in Paris 2002 ? I´m sure you´d like that one, sounds VERY different, totally different music but the lyrics are pretty much the same.

That being said, I really believe that the Symbol album and Diamonds and Pearls could have been timeless classics if they weren´t marred by Tony´s stupid raps.

lol Yeah, how pointless was all that upon release after harping on about it for months? I could've done without the last minute addition and had the segues instead for sure.

I absolutely love Strollin!! That song is a gem. Sometimes I sing along to it while I am driving and repeat it over and over as I butcher the high notes.

I do agree with most of you on D&P and the Symbol album. Those are great albums which could have done without Tony M.

Also, Chaos and Disorder has the distinction of being the only Prince album that I just do not listen to. I've tried several times, but I just can't find one song the I like in its entirety on that album.

That said, isn't it a testament to how amazing Prince's body of work is that out of 24 official releases, there are only a few that pop up in a discussion like this? The man is awesome!!

Strollin is just too cheesy without being quirky or unique for me. And Sweet Baby is way too sugary...the lyrics and music. But I think if the music were different I could enjoy it more. And I don't really collect boots any more so I haven't heard any re-worked versions of the song.
