I've been a fan since I 1982, I would definitely consider myself hardcore. However I wouldn't consider my self obsessive, I don't collect things just music. As far as his being hot I don't quit look at him as an object. I do enjoy his appearance. My wife can't stand the way he looks, just my two cents since you asked.

1983, a year with no new music. Thanks Dad. "Don't hate the Black, don't hate the White. If you get bitten, just hate the bite."

I have been a fan since a good friend of mine gave me a tape that had 1999 on one side and Lovesexy on the other. Then she had me listen to Let's Pretend We're Married and told me she used to gett off to that song. That got me hooked!

I started to like his music in college when one of my roommates played him nonstop, and I had no choice but to listen. I actually started to like some of the stuff... that was around 1987. I started buying the albums (beginning with SOTT, then I filled in backwards...)

It's kind of hard to say. I first saw Prince when I was five--in those butt out pants--but I didn't actually hear any music from him until I was about 11 when he was on that Muppets show thing. And I was on and off with P until a couple of months ago when I really got serious about buying albums and stuff.

me too. 4th grade. Took the "Prince" album to school and thought it was cool when my teacher went on about how much she liked it( she also liked the cars). I discovered him that year on pop radio while I was heavy into disco. When disco died, I switched to R&B radio (funk was the closest sounding thing at the time to disco) and continued loving his music. I was in the 6th grade during that time. We had a "music day" at school also where you brought records to school and the teacher would play them. I remember the teacher played "I Wanna Be Your Lover" from a K-Tel disco compilation that some girl had brought to school. I had the 45 and "Dirty Mind" was my first Prince album.
