A lot of people don't realize that during the early 80's, BEFORE Purple Rain, many folks, especially girls, thought Prince kinda evil. I used to hear it all the time. At grade school and Jr. High, we all could be talking about what band or artist we liked the best. I would be the one who would always bring up Prince. All the girls would ALWAYS say the same thing. "He's creepy." Or "He looks weird." Or "His eyes look evil". These were all different races of girls too. From different backgrounds. P's work in 81-84 had some spooky elements in his music, at times. The vocal version of "GOD" is scary sounding. May of P's pictures, especially during Controversy and 1999, has a strange slant to them. P placing a picture of his eye on the actual record so it stared at u while the music played. Little things P would put in was creepy.

Man, it's soooo much shit on that cover that's on a satanic vibe. From 81-84, P used a LOT of backward masking and occultish overtones. Ya'll don't even want to know what folks in the occult says the words "Purple Rain" REALLY stands for.
P definately went through a stage where many of his overtones had a certain slant to it. The film that him and Madonna were going to do, BEFORE UTCM was "The Prince of Darkness and The Morning Star." Just in the title alone, it reeks of occult meanings.

okay so I heard about some of this when I was younger, guess I chose NOT to get wrapped up in that part of Prince, but would rather enjoyed the beautiful words in their "natural " form. BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT THIS STUFF IS ABSOLUTELY

If you play the whole of the downward spiral in fast forward it says "erase me" during every track constantly, but it's been slowed down so much you don't here it

Dunno if this technically counts as a 'hidden message' but at the beginning of Tricky you can hear a womans voice saying the "funk n' habit formed" part before Prince says it and "leather wearin'" after he says it. She probably says more, but I can't make it out...wonder who that was?
