"The Dawn"-Album?

mmm, i've recently read an older issue of the german ROLLING STONE magazine. it featured an interview with good old prince from around the release of EMANCIPATION. in the interview he mentioned, that he had written a song for an album to be called THE DAWN - the author described it as his "long-awaited final statement".
So, does anybody know what this is about?

Prince has stated that The Dawn is his ultimate killer album and he adds only his best tracks to it. I have never heard what songs are on it, or if it will ever be released. I think he's been working on it since the mid 80's.

I'm very interested in this project as well. At one point I thought it might arrive through the NPGMC. If Prince comes to the UK I will try and ask him this question at the soundcheck.

I believe that "The Dawn" became "The Truth" album as I have a promotional Holy River cassette that was given out at the Mill City concert that Prince did in Minneapolis. The tape is dated 1997 and has The Holy River from Emancipation and Welcome 2 The Dawn (Acoustic Version) "from the 4thcoming experience The Dawn" on it.

As we all know, it ended up on The Truth.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yes, Prince, please make your "final statement" & then just go away.

Actually, it's more likely that the version of "Welcome 2 the Dawn" on the Truth is just the unplugged version & there will be a full-on version on The Dawn, if that ever sees the light of day.

UNINTENTIONALLY funny, of course...

'The Dawn' is not 'The Truth'.

In magazine articles in late '98 Prince mentioned 'The Dawn' as the next album after 'NewPowerSoul'.

As IrishEcho stated an acoustic version appeared on 'The Truth', but the full version remains unreleased on 'The Dawn' or 'Welcome 2 the Dawn' album.
