May 24, 2006? Does this date look familiar? I just posted a question about it and 25 people looked at it, and no one has made a comment.

If you go to my post, you will see a website that notes the divorce was on May 24, 2006.

All of the sudden there is an uproar about the divorce.

Someone asked about the baby that Prince and Mayte had and what happened. I remember reading about it and this is what he had: (I believe it was type 2):

"Pfeiffer syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by the premature fusion of certain bones of the skull (craniosynostosis), which prevents further growth of the skull and affects the shape of the head and face. In addition, the thumbs and big toes are broader and often shorter than normal.

Many of the characteristic facial features of Pfeiffer syndrome result from the premature fusion of the skull bones. The head is unable to grow normally, which leads to bulging and wide-set eyes, an underdeveloped upper jaw, and a beaked nose. About 50 percent of children with Pfeiffer syndrome have hearing loss (hearing loss with craniofacial syndromes), and dental problems are also common. Additionally, the thumbs and big toes are broader than normal and bend away from the other digits. Unusually short fingers and toes (brachydactyly) are also common, and there may be some webbing or fusion between the digits (syndactyly).

Pfeiffer syndrome is divided into three subtypes. Type 1 or "classic" Pfeiffer syndrome has symptoms as described above. Most individuals with type 1 have normal intelligence and a normal life span. Types 2 and 3 are more severe forms of Pfeiffer syndrome, often involving problems with the nervous system. Type 2 is distinguished from type 3 by more extensive fusion of bones in the skull, leading to a "cloverleaf" shaped head.

Pfeiffer syndrome affects about 1 in 100,000 individuals"

It was filed on that date, sealed, but the story leaked months later. I know he did the Las Vegas show a week later. Maybe he did it to get it off his mind. That stuff is hurtful.

Well, well done peeps. Not bad going at all

2nd thread on the D-I-V-O-R-C-E subject (that IS what we're supposed to be discussing here...isn't it?) we're having to lock up and start afresh.

So, 3rd time lucky maybe? Sharpen up - those that are stirring up stuff that has no business here know who you are - and WE know who you are too.

We're watching. lurking

So, as per the mod alerts on the previous 2 threads - it really can't be made any simpler:

ATTENTION!!!
Yes I do mean all of you!! After the mud flinging, trolling, religion, etc. previous threads turned into complete free-4-alls, and as such had to be lock

FINAL WARNING:
If the same uncivil crap starts up again, this one will not only get lock but repeat offenders will be looking at temp-bans.
Maybe this will afford those with hot heads a period to cool off and view from afar instead of contributing.

Because like the old saying goes:
"If you ain't got nuthin' nice to say - then don't say it at all"

So let's really try and keep this thread civil - and we mean it!

Prince and wife Manuela Testolini Nelson are divorcing, PEOPLE has learned.

Alan Eidsness, the lawyer representing Prince, confirms that a divorce action was filed at Minnesota's Hennepin County District Court on May 24. The documents are sealed.

Prince (full name: Prince Rogers Nelson), 48, and Testolini Nelson, 29, a former employee at Prince's charitable foundation, were married in 2001. She took her husband's last name.

Testolini Nelson, a Toronto native, is the founder and president of Gamillah, Inc., which operates, among other ventures, a production company and a line of designer candles. She is also involved with nonprofits including YouthCARE and United Communities Against Poverty.

Prince, who is working on a follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2006 album 3121, was previously married to backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia from 1996 through 1998, when their union was annulled.

Representativess for Testolini Nelson had no comment; Prince could not be reached.

Boy, you missed alot,
but the over-all consensus seems to be that the main reason they split was because the needs of the one outwieghed the needs of the Mani.

So just because he's spending his time working, living his passion, she can just file for divorce? I don't think she's mad at him, she doesn't seem like the type. Looking at her, the charity, children, art's and craft, she's such a sweet person... but i guess the fans don't like her and the karma drama is why she's leaving.

You don't believe they're divorcing? It's been verified with their respective attorneys...

Prince's second wife, Manuela Testolini Nelson, has filed for divorce from the pop superstar, his attorney has confirmed.

Patrick Cousins, Prince's general counsel, said Wednesday the case was pending. He had no further comment.

Edward Winer, attorney for Nelson, issued a statement Thursday saying it was a difficult decision for Nelson to seek the divorce and that she hoped for a "cooperative resolution" and a quick end to the case...

He so deserves the support. Can't wait until he opens his website if he decides to do so when all this blows over. It's nice knowing you can post to his "official" site and show support for it. biggrin wink

It's basically old news now anyway, thank goodness. They'll both be ok, life goes on despite the obstacles we have to face sometimes.

lol Oh yeah Banana, thanks for snipping my post in Part 2, guess it must have touched some nerves, but I stand by every word of it. but I'm not mad at you. No hard feelings at all, it's difficult to accept the truth. I don't expect this post to last either, but you have to do what you have to do as a moderator. At the same time, if you're going to have a thread like this, people will express how they feel, whether you or I or anyone else likes what they say or not. biggrin

Oh I don't think you're the only one. We all have varying opinions on the matter. He should just stay single period if from what I've heard he likes to "be in control". But then again, I or anyone else can't speak for Prince. lol

it just seems in general that the life and image that prince has been building since the late '90s is slowly dismantling, or else transitioning into some new life/career phase. his marriage, his "virtual" relationship with his fans, his religious zeal - all these things that he seemed to want his audience to think were so permanent, they all seem to be dismantling. i think we've seen the dismantling process over the past couple of years, but for the most part, the transition is "official" now with the closing of the club and the divorce.

the vibe i'm getting is that whatever he was building over the last decade or so has come to a point where it isn't working for him anymore, but at the same time, it seems like he doesn't know what to replace it with. he seems to be swimming around in the murk, coasting by on his celebrity and his legend, feeding the fans some crumbs here and there with a club show or an awards show afterparty. maybe he's just letting himself have fun with his celebrity for a while, no crime against that.

his religious commitment seems really murky right now...as always, he seems to be testing the boundaries of what's acceptable without actually diving into the potty-mouthed past...playing a few bars of "erotic city" here, traipsing around with beautiful young women there...it must be difficult to feel accepted by a religious community as someone more than just a celebrity, but at some point feel yourself straying from their expectations...i could see how things could get nebulous after a while.

anyway. i hope he figures out what his whole deal is about eventually, even if it means taking some time off to clear his head. we have enough music to tide us over for a while, and we'll always be ready for what's next. i hope he takes the introspective route with his music again like he did in the early part of this decade. i may not count those albums as among my favorites, but i do think work like "n.e.w.s", "one nite alone" and "the rainbow children" has been some of his most honest work of his career, and i'd love to see that part of him evolve.

whatever it takes to get the ya-ya's out of his system, i hope he does it full-on. he seems the most alive when he's immersed in a kajillion different projects and when he's in some way plugged-in with his fans and his peers, whether its on tour or at a celebration at paisley or even online. i hope he gets back to that place.

sorry about that. i guess where my geeking out over prince is concerned, i'm much more interested in the reality of what's going on and what's coming next than i am in the "wish list" fantasy of what i wish were going on. i mean, if i had my 'druthers, he'd be doing an all-acoustic small venue tour, followed by a balls-out album of his favorite songs backed by a full orchestra (with accompanying tour, of course). mr.green
