I Love U In Me - Some of Prince's most unique songs don't feature drums or guitars

Just listening to the B-Sides set yesterday, and quite apart from being blown away by some of the songs (I've been a fan for 15 years, and sometimes forget that, despite everything, 1980-1988 really was an unparalelled time of creativity for our lil man), I listened to I Love U In Me and found myself thinking that it is so unlike any other Prince track because of the lack of drums and guitars, the 'raindrop' sound of the keys, and the understated nature of the vocals and the background synths.

I think Prince can be creative and inventive with drums and guitars, sure, but I think when he decides not to use those instruments, he puts extra effort in to make sure the song pays off.

Which other songs don't feature drums (or drums and guitars), and does my theory hold up?

Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

I didn't think much of this song on first listen, but one day on a long bus journey i ended up playing it over 50 times on my pod, fuckin weird
