I would like to see a musical from Prince

How many Have seen Rent?
I don't know about yall, but when I see something I like I get jealous that Prince should have beat them to it.

When I saw that Rob Cavallo Produced it I realized why I liked the Vibe.

I think it's a good point in his career to do his own Stage production.

I remember reading that he was working on songs for a musical. I wonder what became of that situation.

After though: When I heard Lets pretend we're Married Waaaay back in the 80's.
It felt so familiar. Then when I finally saw Rocky horror Picture show. That feeling came back. I wonder what kind of influence that Movie/Play had on Prince.
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

The Lovesexy tour was sort of like a musical.

I have mixed feeling about a musical from Prince.

Prince writing the music - YES!

Prince directing - NO!

Prince writing the script - Not without help from someone who has done it successfully already.

I wouldn't like to see it. I hate musicals (I only like those by Bernstein). He shouldn't waste his time with that stuff. He should record some funk and get is ass out on a tour imo. Andrew Lloyd Webber can do the Broadway shit. biggrin

Yes.

I love musicals and I keep hoping that they find a way back...they're trying and it's just a matter of time before someone does it right. It would be good if it's his that makes the breakthrough.

Rent didn't quite do it. I think High School Musical is the most successful, but that's a little different.

There's a formula and it's not the same as the musicals of a few decades ago. Maybe he'll figure it out.

U Didn't Like RENT? I LOVE the SoundTrack!
My Favorite Musicals Are GodSpell,Jesus Christ SS & Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Little shop of Horror is a distant favorite.I love the WIZ soundtrack but not the movie.

Maybe he should adopt a story and write music around it.
Or maybe he should build around Rainbow Children.

It could work, I mean it's an idea he's toyed with a few times over the years - but like some say - Prince doing the music, not story and directing.

And definately not one of those tacky pop hit song musicals like the Queen and Rod Stewart ones ill

Hay! maybe a play about Princes life would work, he could do the music and the guy from rent could play him Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel)
