New Prince fan

Hey I am a new Prince fan, and I would like you "Pro Prince fans"
to tell me which albums are good, I am going to buy new albums soon..

I already have these albums

1999
Purple Rain
Sign O The Times
The Hits/and the B Sides
Musicology

Parade is very good, though quite 'different', but a must have.

LoveSexy is another must have, the last "authentic" prince cd.


actually they are all worth buying if you really like those u
mentioned.

just go one at a time. perhaps chronological order is a good
idea too. just work your way from very old to the newer ones

"GOLD" 4 sure if your coming at Prince from a rock background as your usermame suggests, and also "Dirty Mind", "Controversy" even "Chaos&Disorder" could do you a turn. The second album "Prince" is also very underated and has Bambi and Why you wanna treat me so bad, 2 classics but youve probably got them on the hits cd cool

Agree with the live stuff.4 me , the best studio record is the Rainbow Children,but 2 get in2 it,U have 2 like jazz moods , and not 2 be schoked by the religious meaning of the lyrics.As I'm french, I don't pay attention 2 the lyrics, and the music sounds free , but it's just a matter of taste, but I think U should try that Xperience.

You couldn't go wrong with any of the recommendations I've read so far. While not Prince albums, I would recommend the first 2 albums by The Time (The Time & What Time Is It?). The first one is basically Prince and Morris and is some great funky music. And there's some great music on the second one too. The drum line for 777-9311 kicks ass.

Emancipation and Crystal Ball are loaded with great music!
Around The World In A Day

Black Album

Controversy is sort of a "lesser" 1999.
Stay as far away from Dirty Mind as you can get...it's easily his weakest album!
