In New Zealand we have this crap called Thats what I call music, the latest set vol 20 has Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Sugababes etc and u get the idea. Its at 4, James Blunt at Number 1 with the Bedlam sessions, and the greatest reggae album in the world at 2. Prince isnt on the charts.

right but i still think it might be a big seller if the music gets heardabsolutely. imho, the songs are strong and if they were exposed in a bigger scale, they would be huge. prince should be seeking out ways to get these songs heard in a grand scale since radio wants to be a dick to him. i hope something happens real soon. this album deserves to be a big seller. It's a film that was shown on the Disney Channel earlier this year. From what I hear it's practically like "Grease" in 2006. It was the most watched program in Disney Channel history and they decided to capitalize on it by releasing the soundtrack. The week 3121 came out, they reaired it and it made the sales for the CD go up. I believe there is supposed to be a sequel to the film. Yeah, the album is great, but some of the blame for it not still being in the top 10 goes to Prince himself. Where are the appearances to promote it? Why is it going to take 5-6 weeks for another single to be released? 3121 would still be in the top 10 if he was on Leno, Letterman, Conan, or damn near anybody else that’s on television. Where’s the CD download? He has MANY ways to generate publicity, but he’s not using them. Hell, even a strictly radio single would be something (like Call My Name was). For example, the R&B people that I know, and have heard the CD, all love Incense and Candles. Why not just release it to R&B radio. There’s nothing to lose. | |
