Robin Quivers small blurb about Prince today

In Robins news today they were talking about American Idol and how great it's been for the record sales of all the stars who've been on it. She said "they're apparently forcing Prince to do it" she didn't elaborate on that at all...that was all she said.
I found it interesting is all...and would explain "where" he's been for the past couple weeks or so. smile

was watching alittle of Rod Stewart last night on the show ... etc ... i am not a huge Rod Stewart fan--- but i thought he looked and acted cool ... and could not help but think ... how cool it could be if Prince did do it .... maybe have Sheila E there with him ... etc .... so he wouldnt have to just be there himself ... etc ...

hmmm Indeed!

Could this actually bring back the "rebellious" Prince we all know and love?

I can't say that any of the celebs that have been on the show have come across badly. They all come out on top! I mean...I'm NO barry manilow fan...but I really gained alot of respect for him after watching him work with the kids.
The only one who came out looking kinda bad but still did well in sales was Shakira..and she only looked kinda bad cause she stiffed the kids and just did the performance.
I think Prince could totally come out on top if he did this. I think it would make a lot of people say "wow, he's not so weird, he so cool!" biggrin
I'm still holding out hope he does it.

I think P should do Idol live with no editing.

He could ask Simon who gets to keep the masters if these kids sign to his label. He could ask "Who get's the publishing rights?" and then sing "White Mansion."

Then at the end of the show he could say: "Sign with NPG. Keep the music free*."

*Disclaimer To any artist signing with NPG. Prince writes the songs and keeps the publishing and the masters. If you co-write you'll get the writers half but no publishing.

if he did Idol, then that would mean he has done the two worst shows on television....SNL and Idol! well at least some people might get a taste of some real music by a real musician for a change

Does Universal have any money in American Idol?

If so , maybe THAT'S how they are "Forcing" him , by "denying" other promotion till he agrrees to this crap.

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I still do not want Prince to appear on a show like American Idol, for reasons I've already stated a number of times so I won't rehash that.

However -- were Prince to be "forced" into doing the show, while I'd feel badly for him having to do a performance/appearance he was against, I hope if he were forced to do it he'd go on and perform the hell out of a couple of his songs, blow everyone away and then pull one of his magnificent, classic Prince a*hole moments..I don't know how or in what way, exactly, but just give the figurative finger to [fill in the blank, and include AI] as only Prince can do.

[note: yes, I realize Prince being a dick on TV might backfire hugely and be a poor decision in retrospect. But gosh darn if it wouldn't cause an interesting buzz! lol Not to mention be fun to watch. DRAMA DRAMA RAH-RAH-RAH!]

Robin Quivers is the last person I'd count on for news. she reads the newspapers then reports it on the show. She in her way probably remembers the news items from the past two weeks, and thought to interject her two cents in. I'm so happy I don't have satellite radio.

I know this is off topic, but curious why you're "so happy you don't have satellite radio"? If you have Sirius, you don't have to listen to Stern. There's nothing forcing you to tune into that channel. There is a ton of great content on satellite radio and its worth every penny. Really, its a shame that you have to pay for an alternative to the bland, homogenized, unimaginative content on terrestrial radio,

Yeah, really. Given the choice between 80+ channels of commercial free music of every type, or the lame corporate commercial-filled garbage that rotates on regular radio every 90 minutes, I can't imagine anyone choosing the latter.

to continue the interminable "american idol" discussion, the new york times had a story today about artists' appearance on "american idol" and it said:

Artists do occasionally decline. Mr. Lythgoe said the producers had extended an invitation to Prince, though it is unclear whether that famously private star would be willing to spend time working up song arrangements with the contestants, as past guests have. "He's a very shy man," said Mr. Lythgoe.

there aren't that many weeks left and he ain't on next week either...
