New 2CDs Best Album will b released from Rhino/Atlantic!? Hi everybody!
I live in Japan and I got a friend who is working at HMV and he said Rhino/Atlantic records will release the 2CD new BEST album on 14th March! I thought it was not true but now HMV Japan has the site 4 this release... http://www.hmv.co.jp/Prod...ku=1402802 Doesn't say much info tho, no tracklist, remastered, or which era, only catalog number it says , but anybody knows about this?? I called to HMV today and they only knows that this release will b in US and will b imported. Thanks! |

i've yet to see anything about this on the rhino web site.
i'm guessing it's going to be another by-the-numbers cash-in set, though if they had anything on the ball at all, they'd throw in at least a couple of previously unreleased-on-CD 12" versions or b-sides. if they even included one or two such tracks, they'd get some buzz from the fans. $25 is a bit much to expect from casual music buyers...the one-disc "best of" was more suited to that crowd, i'd think... | |

He seems finally comfortable enough with his past to be able to pull it off without fucking it up substantially. I'm guessing if he did it now, there would be no censoring or re-recordings. Heck, I've had several dreams about a box set a la Join the Dots containing all of his extended 12" A-Sides and B-Sides. That would be the perfect way to kick off a Prince remaster renaissance. Prince, if you're paying attention, just make it an 8 disc set with extensive liner notes and photos and charge a healthy $100. It'd go over way better than Crystal Ball ever did.
