NO PRINCE ALBUM THIS YEAR??...WHATS GOING ON? i must admit that i am surprized that there will be no new album this year....this is now the longest he has ever went without releasing another album as far as i can remember...20 months between 1999 and purple rain was the previous longest time between albums before....and he used to moan about the record companies not releasing his music quick enough!!.....wonder what he is up to???

I don't know, but if it means a really good album instead of a crappy one, I prefer him to take his time. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

There IS an album this year, but because you keep asking for it, you won't be getting it till 2006

No news on the album front does not necessarily mean there will be no new album. There's still 2 months of the year to go and Prince can get an album out without much fanfare if he chooses.
Perhaps he's waiting until Christmas? JWs love all that...

Ah ...."JW's" don't celebrate Christmas, Birthdays etc.

If Prince is looking for low sales like he got with N.E.W.S. then there is a possibility that he could release a cd yet this year. N.E.W.S. was released with little fanfare & resulted in low sales. I think with all the work he put into the Musicology Project he will be looking to release another major cd next time out. He laid the groundwork in 2004 - why blow it with a rushed release in the middle of the X-mas season & risk it getting lost. His next cd will be announced well in advance. Lets hope its Spring 2006.

u must mean he's MADE 3 albums this year well, yeah... not counting the other projects he's been working on that would bring the total to around 7 or so

I dont think this is the longest time its taken for prince to release an album. There was a space of two years between the original issue of Rave un2 the joy fantastic and the rainbow children. If we Get a spectacular album by march 2006 then i will be completely happy/over the moon.Roll on 2006.

Whether it's in late 2005, or early 2006, this album will be worth the wait, from what I hear. U know that I can't say from whom this came from. Let's just say that someone I trust has heard some of it, and this person (carefully) told me there's some classic old-school Prince in this. "He's a musician's musician..."

Because of non-disclosure agreements, and out of respect, I can't say much. All I can say is that my source is an audio person, who has worked with some heavy cats in both jazz and R&B, and has great taste in music. He's worked at Paisley Park recently. When he says that it's some heavy, funky classic Prince, I believe him. Prince will no doubt release this album before the end of the year.

That's exactly what people claimed about Musicology before it came out.

Prince doesn't run out of ideas. But then again, U may the type that thinks that The Rainbow Children and N.E.W.S. were "crappy albums"... 2 each his/her own, I guess. So what "ghost writers" would U suggest? Someone like...er...(cough)...like Kanye West? Ouch. Peace. G. "He's a musician's musician..."
