Need MP3 expertise Prince

My friend copied some of his Prince cds to MP3 and put on a cd-r. Now he was trying to copy those to itunes....but the only way they will play in itunes is if the original disc is in the drive. Without that disc in it says that the original file cannot be found? Any computer wizards out there that can help?

I didn't know if Prince's stuff was copy protected or something. Thanks guys

If the original cds have been converted to mp3s, that strips the files of any copy protection, so that is not the problem.

I don't have Itunes, but I would make sure you copy the mp3s to your hard-drive first, then copy them to itunes from there. Sounds kind of like you are just copying the short-cuts to the mp3s on the disc, which is why it then looks for the disc in the drive to find the original files.
