Prince and Robert Randolph and the Family...

I'm just wondering...has Prince jammed w/sacred pedal-steal player Robert Randolph and his Family band? I think that would be most excellant! Also...does Prince ever get around to playing any festivals? Bonaroo and the like would die to have him I just bet!

Blessings,

I think the only festival that he's played in the last 20 years is the one in Brazil, and MAYBE one in Australia, to my recollection.

What a bummer, eh? I think there'd be a whole new generation of listeners opened up to him if he played a festival or two, but who am I? I digress big time.

Actually, he played the Essence Festival in New Orleans in recent years. Two years ago I believe.

And from a friend of mine who got to see the Essence Festival, Wendy played with the Prince & the NPG there. She got to see When Doves Cry performed with Wendy on guitar--and can you believe it's nowhere to be seen on any "reference material?" biggrin

cool I saw Robert Randolph & the family band jamming on an Eric Clapton concert video a while back and I thought he is fantastic. I went and bought his cd. He is the first African American I've ever seen play a steel guitar. He is phenominal. There was a day when a steel guitar was strictly a country music instrument. Not anymore!

Well, this might be off-topic, but the four festivals where he played in 1993("Rock over Germany") were some of the biggest shows he has played so far. I do not have the exact information, unfortunatly, but there were at least 70.000 people at each of the four shows. Maybe someone else can help who has better info.
Love...thy will b done

Yeah, that jam he does with Doyle Bramhall 11 on "Greenlight Girl" is one of the highlights of the video wink It's cool to see musicians actually PLAY music and not just do note-for-note versions of their songs.
