the ONE SONG by Prince

Have you heard and seen the Prince internet release called the ONE SONG?

What did you think about the song and video?

I thought the ONE SONG was the most thought provoking philosophical work Prince has ever done!

I am listening to it right now.

The One Song is another reason why I ADORE Prince.
Below your threshold of conscious perception.... is where you will find me.

I love this song.
How are you listening to it now?

It's no where on the internet and to my knowledge wasn't downloadable.

The idea of man being one with the universe was so beautifully described in that song ... it brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it.

"and that one song is free... I am the Universe ... the univese is me." nod :music"

It was interesting. Especially coming after The War.

But I wonder if those thoughts Prince was having, how they conflicted with the teachings of the Jehovah's Witness cult? I can't imagine they mesh well.

That's why it seemed bizarre that Prince gravitated to such a warped and blinkered belief system as JW, after expressing interest in so much more that was alternative and even based in science.

I was thinking about that last night in fact. About how much he seems
to know about science. He must have read a great deal about that. And
it was a real shock to me to learn that he had actually converted to
the JW religion after his more earthly method of religion and belief.

Never heard it, can someone post the lyrics
I love your face, your smile, your eyes,
Damn- I'm good at telling lies!
What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.

I love it.

One Song
I am the universe
The sun, the moon and sea
I am the energy
4 that is what I believe
I can be a contradiction
Cuz that is all I see
But I am the universe
And the universe is me

I am the one song (Ah yes)
And that one song is free
All things come from this one song (Yes they do, uh)
The garden and the tree
If everything, everything is present
What is will always be
This here is the first and the last song
And all that come between

When language falls like a wounded soldier
And it's covered by the sea
All the sadness
All these unanswered questions
Keep me company
Company, company, company, come 2 me, come 2 me please
Here at the center of it all
(I know) I know that U can only come from me

(I am the universe)
Yes it will, oh, yes it will (The sun, the moon and sea)
Where else is it gonna come from but me? (I am the universe)
Oh my, my my my my my my my universe (The universe is me)
(I am the universe)
(The sun, the moon and sea)
(I am the universe) (We are the universe) {x2}
(The universe is me)

One truth (One truth)
One song (One song)
One energy

the ONE SONG... ah i really liked that preaching. how society started to reflect art as opposed to art reflecting society.

i have a little problem with the choosing not to choose though. i have been in situations where i just had to choose. not choosing was like putting your head in the sand like an ostrich.
yes SIR!

hmmm

The first section of the song is the part I love the most. Although long, I think it works great segued with the song itself.

Interesting. I always see "One Song" as very much inspired by his JW beliefs. Listen to the opening monologue - it sounds very JW-ish to me. Even in The War he talks about "the truth" and not saluting any flag (which is a very strong JW belief). I think he was taking a strong interest in the JW religion as early as 1998 (which is coincidently the year Larry showed up and also the first reference to Mani in the NPS album notes)
