New Sign 'o' The Times DVD out in the UK! So, it's out! Does anyone have it and more importantly is it the same as the superior Canadian version?

I just got this in hmv yesterday, sound quality is great with 5.1 stereo surround, and the picture quality is great in some parts, however, it seems to be bad in others. Dunno why this is, but the worst part imo is U Got the Look which looks as bad as my old video copy. Not sure if this is because of ownership issues etc.

PLAY or AMAZON? http://www1.hmv.co.uk/hmv...sku=392555 So, is this a genuine legitimate release..? i.e is the quality good..? The life of a Prince fan.. "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

It is totally legit and genuine etc, i doubt they'd be selling it in hmv if this was not the case, as they would face legal action.
Its a good dvd and if u have an old video copy it would certainly be advisable to upgrade to this coz it sounds much better on 5.1 surround.

U Got The Look is a dream sequence. That is y it appears fuzzy. It is meant 2 b. love It is because it is a seperate music video shot previously on different, lower resolution film stock. It was never 'designed' to be a dream sequence, they just did that to find a way to insert it into the movie since it was a big hit at the time.

I'm still confused. The first proper dvd widescreen version was released in Canada by Atlantis Alliance who had left-over rights to the movie:
http://www.amazon.ca/exec...74-5092339 One of the things fans noted was that the front cover did not have the Sign O' The Times font, perhaps for design copyright reasons. But the one Sly posted a link to has a different cover to the original Alliance release featuring the proper font - and it's released by Network? There are so many versions of this movie floating around all claiming to be 'official' it gets very confusing... I mean, there's been an 'official' version on amazon.co.uk since 28th of February this year... [Edited 7/12/05 5:31am]

There's a glowing review in the latest issue of Q Magazine (which otherwise sucks!)..... Anyone read that? Though it calls the Musicology album "passable".....

Which is an accurate label. Only fams could hail Musicology as genius. I'm not saying it's genius. But it's certainly better than "passable" in my book... But then again... I've been known to proclaim "Chaos & Disorder" a masterpiece....

But then again... I've been known to proclaim "Chaos & Disorder" a masterpiece.... It's so easy to shout something is genius, when you have been anticipating a new album by your fave artist. With people like Prince and Björk, whom I am a huge fan of both, I rather wait with passing judgement. I listen, see if there is a song I want to spin to death and then find out if I play the album half a year after it came out. Musicology, in this respect, is not a great album, not bad, but not something I will carry to my grave, unlike some other new music by other artists. Music has to grab me, don't matter what kind of emotion it emits. And Musicology just screams 'easy', where as I still play jams from N.E.W.S and The Rainbow Children. The thing I like best on Musicology, strangely, is the beat of Life Of The Party, which would have been ace if he had put somewhat more production into it's arrangements and hell yeah; the lyrics. But I just love that intro. I love Candy's voice, no matter all them nay-sayers; Prince's voice blooms with ladies singing backing vocals... best thing of the tour was Candy sining backing on songs like Controversy... purrrr

Be my guest. I was just trying to stress that Musicology will never be compared to his 1987 output for a reason. It is just not that good. Not bad, sure at times it is fun, but it is just easy popcorn for the ears. Nothing too difficult.
