At the top of the "Who Cares" list....

Am I really "glad" P made $49 MM last year ???

I am glad he earned enough to make him happy and make him want to do more...
but is it necessary to know EXACTLY how much $$$ people make in this business???
Would you feel "worse" if he netted 30MM or 15MM or even 5MM ???

Wow... what a bad year...he ONLY made $5 Million Dollars.... think about it...

In actuality...Wow What a GREAT year... He was happier than he has been in years... he gave us great new music.... great performances... ROR HOF.... Mani...his Health.... more to follow...

Were is THAT in the Forbes list ???

wow, that's amazing he was on hiatus from touring for the last 6 yrs. I must have been paying a lot of money to see the greatest Prince cover/tribute of band all time during the Jam of the Year, Hit N Run, ONA, etc.. tours.

well, it seems obvious 2 me. obvious that u don't subscribe 2 forbes, that is. it so happens that the magazine covers business and finance. not the personal lives of artists. thus they don't mention that prince is happily married, or take time 2 tell us what he ate 4 breakfast.

Look at that rich bitch ass mofo still chargin' to join his gotdamn crummy site! Does he not care about the non-existent steady flow of money of the youths he is trying to push into becoming musicians! Damn you Prince! You'd better organise a music club to help those precious kiddies you talk about!

You and I know he did not go anyplace but, the music industry and the mainstream media think otherwise. It must make last year that much sweeter for him.

This is exactly why I hate the media. These journalists don't do their work, and don't really know all that much about the subjects they cover. On top of that, Prince is without a doubt one of the most mis-covered musicians today. Basically hit n run and Ona were below mainstream radar so it just didnt exists to the establishment. Fuck them.

He could have been ranked number one on the entire list, and this board would still be full of people complaining that Forbes doesn't have prince.org-level knowledge of all the details of his life.

I'm still shaking my head that ANYONE thinks this is somehow bad news, or an insult to Prince. If I shoved an icepick into my brain, I might be able to comprehend why his marriage and his health ought to be taken into account on a "power" list compiled by a business/finance publication...

From...a long haitus making music for his himself & fans and not for the mainstream audience or record labels as he did during Purple Rain, Diamonds & Peals, The prince album, TMBGITW which he attained success with(mainstream that is).

If they can't even get their facts straight on Prince's tours over the past 6 years, it makes you wonder how reliable those numbers are anyhow.

ONA tour... or the JOTY tour I saw both of those shows smart ass.

To the mainstream media 2004 was a comeback. Keep in mind most of the mass music buying public only keeps up with what every music MTV or the radio deems hot at the moment. Therefore, to the masses this was a comeback.

Maybe you need to get out and read something other than Prince.Org. Forbes does this 100 celebrity thing every year. I read business periodicals 12 months out of the year.

Man... if Forbes can't get that part right, then that throws all of their other stats into question. I mean, Prince IS a musician, so wouldn't one do a search on the top music magazines if nothing else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Prince on the cover of Rolling Stone this past year???

Yeah, but the money for U2 is probably split 100 different ways. How much will Bono take home? No doubt Prince has to share his gross concert income with the band and a very few others. But the lion's share of the money made by Prince goes to Prince. I could be wrong, but doubt that Bono could say the same concerning U2's gross earnings. If you break it all down, Prince probably still nets more money. Just my guess.

Do they mean zero Forbes cover stories? Otherwise...yes he was on the RS cover, as well as Entertainment Weekly, Tracks, Jet, Word, Modern Drummer (w/ John), Bass Player (w/ Rhonda), a keyboard magazine (w/ Renato), the Italian Vogue, etc., even the teenybopper magazine Black Beat! shrug (Note: this is written from an American perspective, may have been other major overseas publications I missed)
